no more numbering system?

couple new pieces don't have the numbers...
interesting change.
i used alot of the early numbered pieces and i could follow it for the most part until the 9 series stuff was weaker than the 7 series
but, the 5 and 7 series stuff was some great pieces
505t and 715t especially, for me anyways

I have had success with Track over the past 4 seasons and still keep my 300C Pearl in the bag along with a Tour X.

The numbering system is still in play to a point...

HX (high rev), MX (medium rev), and LX (low rev) refer to the style of bowler that the ball is intended to roll better for

05, 10, and 16 still refer to the strength of the intermediate differential (Mass Bias) of the ball

There will still be releases outside of this system (Tour X, Tour SiC) which will serve the purpose of the "limited edition" balls of the past, like the 400A and 607A

Isnt it a bad idea to have a ball listed for a high rev medium rev or low rev player? Why limit a ball or bowler on something they can use.

I'd have to agree. Putting a label like that could dissuade someone from purchasing a ball because they believe that it's not meant for them. But at the same time that labeling method does offer the bowler additional information that could be of use to them.

I agree.  I think they were going after "smart bowling types" but missed out on the majority of the bowling world.  For instance I told my wife she should try an HX05 and she kept insisting that the LX16/10/05 should be for her because she didn't have high revs (but she was rev dominant because of her speed).  If anything, I preferred the numbering name scheme better than the high/medium/low rev than they currently have.

Any of those balls can be used for any bowler depending on the condition and desired reaction.  Putting the int diff in the ball name is useless because smart and dumb bowlers alike have no idea what it means.  Most proshops arent much better.

When tournament bowlers put together a track arsenal are they limiting their self based on a name or will they be smart enough to look past it like others as well.

It was a somewhat interesting experiment,  but I saw too many people that focused on the name instead of looking at the actual strength of each ball.

From weakest to strongest from what I saw and rolled:

HX05, MX05, HX10, LX05, MX10, HX16, LX10, MX16, LX16

If there going away from the number system any chance the 3 new balls are the ones on the April approved ball list. Power machine, freak out, and exception 6.0 maybe try and make a splash with some updated remakes. I doubt it but it would be awesome!

My first 800 was with a freak out. And I loved the exception and power machine. It would be cool if it happened!

Power Machine and Freak Out had cult followings, makes sense using those names to jumpstart the brand again.
