Title: Not Much Luck With The Threat

I haven't had much luck with the Threat. I have drilled two of them (different layouts) and the have been inconsistent at the break point or the pins. I can't count on the same shape at the break point when I get lined up or I get early roll out at the pin deck and leave a weak 10 or 8, 10 split. The only thing I have tried is taking the cover down with scotch brite to around 1000 to make it more controllable. Has anyone done this or does anyone have any other suggestions. I like the shape the ball gives me on the lane but I need to make it more controllable.

Your idea of taking the shine off the ball is a pretty popular choice to blend out a balls reaction.  I did the same thing to me X-Factor and I love the reaction it gives me now.

Maybe you're just playing it on the wrong shot? I'm using a Threat at one of the two houses that I'm bowling at this summer, and the thing is absolutely unstopable there. Could be because the house that I use it at is notoriously dry with REALLY bad side boards, making the only possible shots either a missle up the outside, or creating a huge angle of entry. With my lack of ball speed, I'm forced to the latter, which works really well with this ball as it tends to tear up back ends if they're clean.

If your rolling out when you went to a 1000 grit bring it back up to 1200-1500 or 2000 wet-sand. The smooth grit surface will play more controlled than the polished with sacrificing too much on hit. I still believe this ball is a better choice for slower ball speeds and less hand, especially box condition. I actually like the new thrash for a bit more controlability.

Just wondering if anyone has done a side by side comparison with the Threat v the original Heat, not just an 'i remember it doing this'  I wish i could do this sort of comparison with all these balls in 'fresh' out of the box condition, just to see how close or different they REALLY are!
