Title: Please, help me layout my Temper!
Post by: 800bowler300 on January 07, 2008, 06:58:07 PM
Hey guys. I have a NIB Temper that I am looking to drill up. Here is what I am dealing with:

1. Passion - pin up/right of ring, mb in strong (4 x 4 off my PAP) - Heavy Oil
2. NVS - pin over bridge, mb in strong (5 1/2 x 4 off my PAP) - Carrydown
3.
4. Jazz - pin over ring, cg in palm (5 x 5 off my PAP) - Light Oil
5. Dry/R - pin over middle, cg in palm (6 x 5 off my PAP) - Dry Lanes

I am looking to drill the Temper to fit in that slot between my NVS and my Jazz. Right now my NVS works perfect when I run out of room with my Passion, and my Dry/R works right when I run out with my Jazz. The problem is I have a large gap between my NVS and my Jazz. I would like the Temper to go long and roll smooth on the backend. I don't want angularity, I have plenty of that in my bag now. How should I lay it out? I had 3 ideas:

1. Pin at 6 1/2" (slightly negative), mb just right of my thumb
2. Pin at 3 1/2" (slightly right of ring), mb just left of thumb
3. Pin at 2", mb on VAL

What do you Track guys think I should do? Please help me. Thanks.

I thought 5 1/2 up and 45 degrees was an angular drilling.

Try a pin in your ring finger and the MB near your thumb. This will lower the differential and give you a smooth reaction. Use surface changes for length needs.

The MB is not as important, even though it is marked. The low MB rating of .003 is way lower then the min number that shows enough affect on reaction. However if the number was higher placing the mb right next to the thumb places it in a stong flip position.

But the 5 1/2 will still create length.

Thanks for the replies so far. Right now I am contemplating combining 2 of your suggestions, and drilling the pin at 5 1/2", IN my middle finger. I am not sure yet what mb placement I will use. I know it is not a high assym, but the pin, cg, and mb are all in line, so it does matter. Thanks.

It will only matter for legal static weights. Just place the Pin where you said you are and then get the cg as close to the center of your grip as you can. This will make you not even need a weight hole, or if you do because of top weight. You will not need as big of one.

Thanks, I think that is exactly what I am going to do. I appreciate the help.

If the MB was out on your VAL and the pin over your ring finger what would that do as compared to the MB next to your thumb in the flip position?

Will it have more of a forward roll and start up earlier and smoother?

Thanks

Hey 800, pm sent.
------------------------------------------------

Adman,

Anytime we place the mb (of enough significant strength) closer towards pap, the faster it will pull a weight block down which translates into an earlier rolling ball or should have more of an arcing shape.

On the converse, the further we place it from pap, the longer we delay the motion of the weight block as it goes down lane which can/should translate into more of a skid/flip reaction.  Hope this helps explain some....
