Title: Question about two balls
Post by: thedjs on May 25, 2016, 01:41:26 PM
I have an Ebonite Cyclone and a Track Mx05.  Both are in box finish and are drilled the same.  When I try both balls on the same lane it looks to me as if both are very close.  I do think the Mx hits a little harder but to my eyes the overall length and hook are almost the same.

Has anyone else used both of these balls and do you see much difference between the two?

Thanks.

I've not tried either but I wouldn't be surprised by this possibility. The Cyclone is a lot of ball for an entry level ball. The gb10.7 is a strong cover matched with a very nice core in the cyclone.

The cyclone will match up with a lot of other balls in a higher price point, especially when you start tweaking the cover from box finish.

check out the comparison chart below
2 completely different pieces IMO

Cyclone - symmetric, 2.53/.053 - 4000 polished

Track - asymmetric, 2.49/.038 - 1000 polished

based on the above numbers, Generally (not gospel)

the cyclone is longer/stronger, more arcing
the Track should be earlier, weaker, a bit more angular

I would easily keep both of these in my bag
If they seem to similar, change up the surfaces, the options are unlimted

the mx05 has an int diff. of only .05. it doesnt count as an assymetric core when considering layouts. after drilling it will behave more like a symetric core

I believe you should pick which ball WEIGHS the best. Pro shops owners say its coverstock, but believe me, as a frequent casher in ABT, it is about weight.

What??
The most influential item for ball motion is cover stock followed by pin-pap distance, core strength and then layout
It's like 50%~30~10~10 or something along those lines
So to change what you have, change the surfaces

I politely disagree. I just cashed $175, I have had pro scouts. But you have a good point about pap When I switched my pap I went up 30.

Those numbers are facts from gold coaches
Ball weight has little bearing on score unless you go under 14 lbs
If it works out for you, great
Keep it up

I bowl better then many bowlers in my league. They all use 14 and higher. But I bowl with two hands, so gold coaches have not figured out two handed yet. We agree on pap, and pap is closely linked to weight.

Is not trolling. Your average is a little bit higher than mine because of the ball weight, but I still enjoy bowling and wins many games in my league.
