ball suggestions - questions?
« on: July 24, 2008, 04:03:35 AM »
need help on selecting a ball for drier conditions, my current line up is missing this piece.  id like to here some suggestions from you. i have all old school track stuff - and 2 pieces other. so im not sure about the new track as of yet. i love my power machines when they and i match up with the lanes conditions, they are deadly. and when they dont, my ultimate does. what suggestions do you have? i am looking at some "b" stuff -- such as 'THE SWARM" and the "smash zone" but i like to get some "track" perspectives.

Track doesn't have a ball meant for drier conditions, the lowest condition they will cover if possible would be light-medium, that would be a Temper at 4000 Abralon with a heavy dose of polish

Give Lanemaster's Hornet a try...someone on here was just trying to sell off his Red Hornet (overseas version of the Hornet).

I was a little concerned at first about not having a true dry lanes ball and after a year of being on staff, I have seen no issues with making due with what we have. Granted, I have no problem playing 25-30 and feel really comfortable in there. The best ball I had for the dry was a Kinetic. I had the pin 6 inches from PAP and it provided effortless length and just enough pop on the back to carry from extreme deep angles. I just drilled a Kinetic Pearl with pin 5.5 from PAP and it is also really smooth. Now granted, it you are maxxed out when your eyes hit 10 and can't get any deeper and you have no ball speed, maybe there would be an issue.

This is exactly what I wanted from the Kinetic in the first place.  For its 3rd drill, I went with a 6x4 layout.  I have my Phoenix and Equation for the driest of dry, but I needed something when the lanes start breaking down, and my polished PM is too much.

Guess I'll see if it works in August when I come back from florida.  If not, K.P. here I come!

I drilled a Kinetic Pearl today and was able to play the cheetah pattern on synthetics in our PBA experience league tonight.  The pin is 6 1/2 from my PAP.  It put it in the center of my track.  I was able to move right when others were going left.  Rolled real clean and I did not change the surface OOB.
