Is Xception 5.0 close to the Angular?
« on: February 17, 2006, 01:00:13 AM »
The reason I am asking this is that my Angular goes longer than I expect. The reason being that it is a few ounces lighter than the rest of my equipment, causing me to throw it through the breakpoint. I have a 5.0 that I haven't had drilled, and I am wondering would it make a good replacement. I don't have the $ to get another Angular (I would like to ) , so would drilling the 5.0 be a good move?

P.S. The Angular is drilled with the pin above the ring, cg kicked out to the right with a weight hole a little below my PAP.

Their reactions are very close, the 5.0 is just stronger at every point of the lane.

Thanks, EX! I would like to have it drilled to fit between my Reactive (dull) and Slash (polished). Which layout would you suggest?

I had it drilled last night. The site was down, so I couldn't get your response until today.

These are my drillings on the Reactive and Slash:

He drilled it with the pin under the bridge, and the MB about 2" right  and below the thumb. I haven't had a chance to roll it yet. What do you think?

Hey Buck,

The 5.0 will be longer with more backend than the AR and Slash.  Both of those balls should roll earlier with the AR being stronger.  My 5.0 went pretty long, I had better success with it on true med conditions bud.

Thanks Rick,

What are your thoughts on the drilling? Pin under the bridge, and the MB about 2" right and below the thumb, with the weight hole a little right of the MB and above it.

Hey Buck, that's a pretty safe drill to use.  It will help keep the ball a little smoother by keeping the pin under because this ball can have some serious backend when it hits dry.

On another note, I mentioned that the 5.0 would be longer than both balls but I was comparing it to your pics.  The Slash looks OOB in that photo but I saw you say that it was polished.  I high glossed my Slash to see the reaction and it became a very long and smoother looking ball.  Therefore, if your Slash is high glossed, the 5.0 will fit in between there.  If not, then the Slash will roll earlier.  Hope this helps explain some bud.

Thanks Rick! The Slash is indeed polished and the Reactive dull. Also My Delta is slightly polished, and the Angular, Heat, and CT is OOB.
