The 2000 refers to the underlying grit, not the grit of the polish. The polish is not a compound I don't believe and shouldn't have any ssignificant grit to it. It is PowerHouse Factory Polish and is used on most of the Ebonite branded balls that leave the factory with polish, if not all.

The Kinetic has a OOB surface of 2000 abralon, and then polished with Ebonite Factory Finish. The reason the polish is added, is to help the ball get the ideal length OOB that the average bowler would want.

The above statement however is not stated for someone like Vern. That guy ends up taking an extra 4 bottles of polish to most balls, .
