Equation
« on: July 02, 2006, 01:19:28 PM »
Once again, not quite a mini review.....these are my initial comments.

The ball is laid out 4 1/2pin(inside ring finger)x 3cg weighthole on my VAL in the thumb positive quadrant

I see the Equation as the perfect fit between the Artillery and the Heat Blast. It has the same roll as the Blast with the backend reaction of the Artillery.

The Equation clears the heads with ease and has a strong arc (not quite a flip) into the pocket. FOR ME...normally polished reactive equipment makes the pins fly and jump all over the place.....not the Equation it keeps the pins low just like the Mean Machine.

After using it briefly I see the Equation as good benchmark ball. I normally do not like polished equipment for that slot...........but where I say the Equation has a strong move to the pocket, it is also an extremely readable move as well.

I read a post saying that it is stronger than the Mean Machine, NO WAY. It is a good 6 boards + less than the Mean Machine.

More to come once I get a few more games on the ball.

I think it will replace the Artillery.

How different is the Equation's coverstock and its surface finish from that of the Heat Blast?

The core seems only slighty different, with the extra nugget lowering the RG slightly and slightly greater differential. (Of course, there are times when "slightly" can be significant.)

Thanks.

The Equation uses the Goo Ls while the Blast uses the PowerPlus cover...and to me the Goo is stronger than PowerPlus. Add the nugget in the core to lower the rg and raise the diff as you said. They are both pretty shiny to me OOB....

Hey Guys,

What a refreshing feeling, hopefully this ball will appeal to me. The Artillery was a great ball; however, it just didn't fit in the arsenal. Now with the Equation using the Goo LS coverstock and a different core, this maybe something very interesting to have punched up. Of course, if it has the Track logo on it and it is new equipment, you can bet that ole Mikey right here will have one! God Bless You All and have a great 4th of July!

The Equation is nowhere near what the Artillery is. The Artillery is stronger in the midlane.....much stronger.

The OOB surface prep on the Blast and Equation are close....but I think the Equation has more "gloss" to it.

Ah, if the Equation has the Goo LS (The Xception's) coverstock), then that PLUS the stronger core will make a significantly difference in performance from the Heat Blast.

Thanks, Clint and Carl.

I'm going to try and punch mine tonite so I'll have some feedback for you and others as well Charlest.  Del told Dpat at Bowl Expo that this ball was going to be very strong off the breakpoint.  Maybe this is what Tbrockette saw as well....

Thank you, El Presidente!

It seems like an attempted approximation for the Xception. Mine is still sitting patiently waiting for enough oil ...

I also had a chance to throw the Equation lastnight. I like this ball more and more every time I throw it. I was asked what it resembles....after alot of thought I came up with it being a mix of the Xception and the Freakazoid.

After talking to Rick and trying to figure it out to a better extent....it is like a stronger Voo Doo (reactionwise). If there is a difference between them it is simple....the Equation is a tad stronger in the midlane and in the backend.

Watch out for this ball folks......due to the Mean Machine it is not really getting alot of "hype", but this ball could be a super sleeper!

So carl you are saying that the equation could end up in the area that the havoc was when it came out. Where the havoc fell into the shadow of the animal, you are saying the equation could fall into the mean machines shadow and not get the notice that it should.

After a few more games the Equation is really starting to show what hit has. It just clears the heads with ease. The midlanes started drying up tonight so I decided to use this ball. It did not overreact off of the TRACK area (the Artillery on this shot rolled up much too soon). The backend was strong...but not overwhelming>>>>>>>>>>>it was readable.

I am sticking to my opinion of sleeper ball of the year on this one!
