Power Machine
« on: December 17, 2006, 09:23:58 AM »
3 3/8" pin and 3oz of top
Thinking of drilling it 4.5 x 4.5 pin up 3 5/8.
I feel that this drilling would make it compliment my Mean and Green very well.
Mean Machine is 5 1/8 X 4 3/4 pin up 4 1/4" no X-hole
Machine is 3 X 4 1/4 pin up 2 1/2 X-hole 3/4" past VAL 1" below PAP

Waiting to drill it is killing me but I am going to put switch grips in all of my equipment and am waiting for them to be delivered.

That should be a very good compliment.

The Power is far and away my favorite Machine, but it goes with the others very well.

Hey Sean,

How much backend do you want?  With your layout, it will be "very" strong. Even with my 3 3/4x4mb, I get a bunch, sometimes too much on the O/U.  The ball itself is a great fit between the Mean and the original.  Just depends on what reaction shape you're looking for bud...

Rick

I want it to be very skid flip to help me with the backends at one of the centers I bowl in.
At this center my Mean reads a touch too early to have a crisp reaction due to the cover strength.
My Machine is set up to burn off energy quickly for playing a tighter line so it doesn't work very well at this center which benefits the hockey stick reaction shape.
I figure this drilling will be what I am seeking. According to the drill sheet for a mildly rev dominate player it should be a strong reaction with a flip to hook set shape.
I had considered drilling it the same as my Mean but I think it may be a touch to sensitive with that skid flip of a drill since it is already skid flippy by nature.
You get more backend then me anyway due to your higher degree of tilt and rotation not to mention more revs with roughly the same speed.

The layout is actually based off of my leverage line, to where I draw a line from my PAP to GC and the mark the point on that line that is 3 3/8 from PAP and then draw a line that is perpendicular to the PAP to GC line to represent the leverage line. I then move the pin up along this line until I get it high enough to reach to desired pin to PAP distance, I also keep the MB on the leverage line. I do this with a plotting program to figure out the angles and distances and then tranfer it to the ball using a pro-sect.

Okay Sean, based on your desired reaction, that layout should give you that.  One question, as you shift the pin vertically to achieve desired position to pap, do you end up shifting away from leverage (3 3/8) or are you shifting it "along" your leverage line?  Sorry, just woke up, the brain hasn't had enough Starbucks pumped in yet...
