The Freak, what to get next
« on: June 10, 2003, 05:01:46 AM »
Layout:
Pin under ring, cg kicked towards the pap, mb thumb quadrant, box finish

Me:
Higher track, med-high revs (depends what is needed), higher ballspeed

I enjoy throwing this ball on house conditions alot, and it lends itself
to being very veristile for the tournament conditions that I am encountering also. But when it comes time to put it away, it defiantly lets you know.

Looking for suggestions for something tamer for dryer conditions. Not tied to any particular manufactor.

I have no experience with the FO, so I'm not really able to say that would be a good ball to go to or not, but when I'm unable to throw my Freak due to drier lane conditions, I tend to migrate over to my Threat which has proved to be just as devastating to the pins as the Freak.

Freak out: far as I can tell longer, med/some backends, turns left hard on dry ends

Threat: Haven't seen alot of people throwing it, had the pleasure of throwing one a little while back, had a nice even movement, seemed to hit well also.

Where does the revmaster/thrash compare to a threat? Pretty sure the rev is more for med, thrash is a skid snap counterpart to the freak out.

I guess that it depends on the drilling of the ball, but I got a milder pin Threat that works absolutely wonderfully on drier conditions. A house that I bowl at that has long been considered a desert is quite easily conquered for me with this ball. Of course, I'm the type of player that doesn't mind opening up a lane to find some type of oil to play a drier shot, but I have absolutely no complaints when it comes to this ball's ability to play the drier conditions.
