The Future of Track Cleaners and Polishes
« on: April 04, 2007, 01:52:27 AM »
Good morning everyone,

My name is Jeff Ussery and I am the new Powerhouse Brand Manager working under the Ebonite International umbrella of companies.  As you all know, Ebonite International acquired the Track brand in a recent asset purchase.  There has been an incredible number of requests for information concerning the future of Track cleaners and polishes.  I'm here to provide some details and information for the Track "Legion."

I'll explain something first so that you can better understand our direction.  Powerhouse is the pro shop equipment brand that we market all of our equipment and supplies through here at Ebonite International.  An intensive re-branding effort is occuring at this time here at Powerhouse.  We believe that it's important that our brand is recognized as the best solution for all pro shop operators in the field.  Powerhouse will now stand alone as it's own brand in the bowling industry.

Falling under that brand are all of the cleaners and polishes that were in the Ebonite line, as well as the acquired products from the Track brand.  At this time, we are taking a look at all products, both existing and potential.  Product justifications must be completed any time we add a new product to our line, and we are looking into this right now with regards to the Track cleaners and polishes.  What we are really looking for is "the best of the best."  So we are in the process of testing our existing products against the ones brought to us by the Track purchase.

There are a few things you should know:
1) Clean n' Dull will continue as Powerhouse Clean n' Dull
2) No Final Decisions have been made with regard to any other product from the Track cleaner and polish line.

So why am I on here explaining this information?  First and foremost, we want to clear the air of speculation concerning these products.  But more importantly, I'm looking for your feedback concerning the Track line of cleaners and polishes.  Reports and data can tell us one thing.  But we believe that "The Bowler is Our Boss."  That Bowler is you.  Right here, and right now.

Here's what I'd like if you're willing to actively participate.  Please send your e-mails to jussery@ebonite.com and provide the following information:

1) What Track cleaners and polishes do you find to be outstanding?
2) Why are they better than other products on the market?
3) Have you used any of the Powerhouse/Ebonite brand cleaners and polishes in the past, and how did the Track products compare to these.

Feel free to provide any other information you find to be beneficial.  Only e-mails with VALUABLE INFORMATION will be considered and kept for reference.

On a side-note, I know nothing about the Track bowling ball or bowling bag lines, so please do not send me e-mails for information concerning this.

I look forward to your responses.

Magic Shine should definitely stay in the "Powerhouse" line-up.  I've never tried the Clean 'n Dull, but have heard many great things about it...glad you are keeping it around for those that do use it!!!

I think it is important for Ebonite to continue Delayed Reaction because there is nothing else like it on the market today, that I am aware of. (Neo-Tac's Control-it just doesn't work as well or as easily.)

It reduces the backend dramatically and adds shine and length. The reduction of backend on dry lanes is very important when you don't have a pearl urethane of a real dry lane resin ball or enough ball speed.

Thanks again!  I just wanted to see if you had tried the Powerhouse Factory Finish or not.  Thanks for your replies!

Jeff,

I had tried Powerhouse Factory Finish polish several years ago and found that unless the ball was at least at 800 grit (higher/finer was also good), that it was very, very hard to get any real shine on the ball. So it seemed not to work when the ball was at 400 or 600 grit; that's why I stopped using it. Magic SHine (and Brunswick's high gloss polish) still worked at lower grits.

Thanks for your opinions everyone.  They are definitely being considered when looking at these products.  If anybody else has any other thoughts, I'll be glad to listen!
