Ball and drilling for over/under
« on: September 14, 2006, 01:13:28 PM »
Ok trackers, I need a ball and drilling for severe over/under! What ball of the current lineup best fits the bill and what layout should i use? From 10 out it's severely dry(Plastic hooks before the arrows and quits from boards 1-8).Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If it's that dry outside of 10, you need to keep the ball left of the 10-board.  Depending on what the lanes are like in the middle, you might be able to move in and put your breakpoint around 13.  You don't get much angle when your breakpoint is only four boards right of the pocket, but using something with a smooth, controlled backend you can score.  The hardest part will be getting enough drive out of the ball to carry the 5-pin.

You could try something with a weak but dull cover.  A Solution PPEX with the polish knocked off might work.  Maybe a Desert Heat, depending on how much oil is in the middle.  Track doesn't have one right now, but you could try a urethane or pearl urethane.  There are a few out there, the Slate Blue Gargoyle, Trooper (a C300 ball), or a Groove.

I like to attack over under reactions with particle...i can play in and it wont skid forever in the oil but if i would get it out it doesn't whip off the dry like reactive/pearl reactive may tend to...my first suggestion would be an inertia w/ the polish knocked off...but only if you think you have enough oil to get it down the lane (without knowing exactly what you bowl on its tough to tell)

i believe tho with the multiple drilling possibilites for the assymetric core of the inertia you could find the desired reaction your looking for

if you dont have enough oil in the middle and/or heads you can prolly achieve a similar type reaction with less overall hook with a heat blast drilled to be very rolly (maybe even a pin in palm layout aka rico)

for playing a real wet dry...wet in the inside the whole lenght of the pattern.

Bone dry outside...target 5 boards or so outside oil line...

Great post from Columbia gives the specifics!
