Tired of rumors? HERE IS YOUR TRACK LEGION Q&A section!
« on: July 09, 2007, 07:02:47 AM »
Guys/Gals I know you have heard many statements about the new Track Equipment. I have read ALOT of them throughout this entire website. If you have specific Questions please post them here. Myself or Rick will answer your questions as best we can. Both of us have had alot of exposure to the new equipment and what they do on the lanes......for every style of bowler. We will be able to answer any question you have.

Thanks,
Carl

What is the proper scotchbrite to use?

Brunner,

The proper scotchbrite is determined by the ball that you want to clean. For instance: if I wanted to deep clean my Kinetic I would use a white scotchbrite pad and Power House Clean n Dull. Apply the Clean n Dull directly onto the scotchbrite and wipe over half of the ball in small circular motions. The key here is to APPLY VERY LITTLE PRESSURE(this helps to make sure that you do not alter the grit on the surface of the ball, thus keeping it close to OOB) and spread the Clean n Dull to the point where it covers half of the ball. I allow it to sit for about 20 seconds and wipe it off with a dry towel. Repeat the same process for the other half of the ball.
When I am done I use a damp cloth and go over the surface of the ball to remove any residue that may remain.

If you were do this to a dull ball, such as the Ebonite GameBreaker you would want to use a grey scotchbrite pad.

Goodluck,
Carl

Will Track follow this procedure or will they go back to just the names of the coverstock with no regards to information of actual OOB surface? Columbia has names for their coverstocks, but thank god they actually have the surface prep listed as well.

Hey Six,

I believe this info will be on our ball talkers and/or drill sheets.  Carl and I just went over this subject with Fig as well.  I think because old Columbia and other companies bought "their" coverstocks directly that they had to rename it to not give other companies any clues as to what it was.  It also could have been a marketing strategy.

However, since Ebonite creates their own veneers (which would take a genius or fantastic chemist to replicate), they don't have to worry about duplication or replication so the finish on the end product does not have to be hidden compared to the other companies.

This is a great question showing our company as to how intelligent and informed our Track bowlers are.  Thanks Hitman...

i do this every time i bowl, so no worries about my equipment dieing, thats what im saying, i dont have any doubts about my equipment because i do keep them clean and use clean and dull on my equipment each time i bowl

have never done a hot water bath to my balls, might give it a try and see how it works

but the one guy im talking about most of all uses my clean and dull on his ebonite equipment and it still hasnt lasted, he has the Black Ice, Crossfire, V2 Sweet, and none of them reacts as good as when he first bought them, but he isnt the only one that has noticed a difference in ball reaction, but he is the only one that i know cleans his stuff like i do, because he cleans his the same way i do mine using my clean and dull

Simple rule in my life, if I don't have to go to sleep with you at nite or wake up to you in the morning?...Life goes on..I do however enjoy trash talking while we bowl or when I'm collecting my pot and bracket winnings...

This has GOT to be the busiest Friday we've had on BR...lol

Brunner,

Unless you have sanded any of those balls I would use a white scotchbrite pad OR 2000-4000grit abralon pads.

Do any have symmetrical cores or are all 3 assymetrical cores?

What is the strength and spin time of the assymetric cores on each ball if any have assymetric cores?...Example .025 and 6 seconds etc. etc.

Seems I heard the Rising has an assymetric core but not sure on that. However I haven't heard anything on the Kenetic and Temper cores.

BO,

All three releases are asymmetrical, although the intermediate diff on the Kinetic and the Temper are very very low(which makes the mb placement not nearly as important as in a stronger asym).

The Temper has a intermediate differential of .003
The Kinetic's is .006
The Risings is .031

The Rising has the highest intermediate differential put into a single density core. As far as the spin time....I am unsure on that, but I will get an answer ASAP.

Scoot, you are too close too the ground so that may not be preventable....lol

Hey I may be little but I am not as short as rick. Yet for us shorter guys it is alot easier for us to get the ball to the flat spot. You dont hear us all the time with the "O my knee!" or "My lower back is killing me!" I hear that one alot from some people.

Ok Carl, I got a question for ya.

I'm sure that I'm getting the Rising to be the strongest piece in my arsenal, and have been considering different drills.

As you see here, this is the drill that I have on my Contender, which despite its age is the strongest ball I have, even stronger then my MM:

http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5210301
http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5210287

What I'd like to know is, how would a layout like this (Contender) fare on the Rising, and more importantly, is it a good layout?
--------------------
My current arsenal-www.putfile.com/trackbowler627

High game-300
High series-796

After 7 weeks out due to a wrist injury, I'm finally back!

My God.  Three years after the fact, I realized that I called it the contender, when it's actually the Champ.

Dee.  Followed by dee.  Followed by dee.

*Not Carl but the smaller and better looking version*

X, the layout appears to be about a 2-2.5 pin to your listed pap (in profile).  What this is doing for you is that the weight block is rotating and falling faster which is why you're getting a stronger movement.

With the pin in this position, it is also offsetting some of your speed which then again allows for the earlier and stronger movement.   It's all still about matching up buddy.

If you were to place this drill on the Rising?  I'd have to say that you'll need some very heavy oil to be able to use it on based on your revs to speed ratio.
