How is everyone liking the 505T??
« on: July 13, 2010, 02:20:52 PM »
Haven't heard much about it on here since it came out recently but for anyone here that bought it how well does it match up with the current Track balls like the 715C and 920T? I talked to several bowlers on Facebook and so far there's ALOT of positive comments about how well this ball rolls and handles the oil for a 5-series ball.

So far, I'm very impressed with the 505T. Picked mine up on Saturday from the pro shop.  Box specs on the ball were 15 lb 4 oz, 3-1/2" pin, 2-1/4 oz top weight, and the pin, CG, and MB were nearly perfectly in line. I used a 50* x 3-3/4" x 25* layout, with a weight hole at the P2.5 location.

I was able to throw the ball on a freshly oiled house shot immediately after the ball was drilled. The ball has an excellent midlane read and a very continuous backend. I was very impressed with the reaction of the 505T, as was my pro shop operator. His comment was, the ball reaction reminded him of the Ebonite Mission, only $60 cheaper.  While waiting for the 505T to be drilled, I bowled a game with my 505C. Layout on the 505C is 5" x 3", pin over ring, weight hole on PAP, surface at 2000 Abralon. I was 6 boards left with my feet with the 505T with the same breakpoint. I would imagine that with the surface taken down, the 505T would be able to handle a heavy oil condition with no problem. I had my Rogue Cell and the 505T when I practiced on a fresh Chameleon shot on Monday.  I was playing 17 at the arrows, out to 7 at the breakpoint, and the 505T rolled great.  The Rogue Cell is drilled 45* x 5" x 30" with a weighthole next to the thumb.  I played in the same area with the Rogue Cell as I did the 505T, and the 505T read the midlane more and the Rogue Cell had more on the backend.  So far, I'm extremely impressed with the 505T.  At the price point, I don't think you can find a better ball.

Ball is really good... did a 5½x5½ stacked layout with MB in the thumb,to fill a gap in my arsenal. I get a nice push through the front and a VERY smooth hard arc in the backend with this layout, I like how I can go fairly direct with this layout on sloppy/carried down lanes and carry the Ten. Keep in mind this is a conditions layout for me. For players wanting a benchmark ball, go with a 4½ pin to PAP layout and this will be very versatile on any house conditions for many styles. Highly recommend this ball for the average player!

45x5.5x35 for me, way too much ball! if there is a heavy type pattern like shark, there is no better ball. polish helped. Even though the numbers dont match up, if anyone is looking for a modern day gamebreaker, pick up a 505T.

I drilled mine 45 x 4 1/2 x 30 just to see how strong this bad boy is and its really nice. I think the first word out of my mouth when I threw it was "Damn!". I left it OOB. Probably drill the next one a bit 'weaker'.
Going to be an awesome bang for the buck.

How would you compare the Hammer Plague and 505T? Would it be worth it if I get both balls and just drill them different. I need a heavy oil ball to replace my Jigsaw. I'm mixing my arsenal with Track and Hammer.

I would think if you drilled a Plague and 505T you would get 2 different ball motions and an ability to handle 2 different volumes/patterns.
The 505T is very versatile on higher volumes and longer patterns. I think the Plague is designed for even higher volumes and is more aggressive throughout the lane where I feel the 505T excels in the midlane read and backends with its OOB surface. Polished it adds another dimension to the reaction increasing length but still having control of the mids and on the backend.
