Title: Track Heat - Release Date: Dec. 15th
Post by: Plowboy300 on November 19, 2015, 01:02:27 PM
TRACK HEAT  -  Release Date: Dec. 15th

When reintroducing great products from the past, companies have to be very careful. Simply putting the same name on the ball isn’t enough. We know how much this ball and its motion has meant to the brand loyalists, that’s why it was crucial for us to recreate this iconic bowling ball to perform as close as to the original as possible. Try it for yourself and be prepared to bring the HEAT!

MODIFIED TRI-CORE

The Modified Tri-Core is a throw back to the original core design found in the original Heat. We’ve matched the RG perfectly to the original while lowering the flare potential slightly to match up better with today’s stronger covers.

DR-5 PEARL COVER

We’ve designed the DR-5 Pearl Cover specifically with the brand new Heat in mind. This cover creates minimal traction in the front half of the lane. This allows the core and cover to shine at the back end of the lane where everyone wants to see their ball hook.

Brunswick did the same thing with their "remakes".  Tried to claim the reason to modernize it was because of newer oils and coverstocks.  Although both were nice balls,   I would really prefer the original.

I'm using a Thunderstruck Pearl and will pull out an old El Nino 2000.  There's been a resurgence in urethane balls.  I'm not sure where these so called new oils are being used.

The new oils are definitely being used by the center where I bowl.  They got the Flex machine and switched to Fire and Ice and it has been a real challenge ever since.

There has been a resurgence of urethane at my center, but this is by people bowling morning leagues where the lanes have not been treated from the previous night.  People bowling evening leagues are still using newer reactives and hybrids on the fresher conditions.

A little off topic here, but Kegel has some new oil(s) out
I feel like the ICE oil isn't what it claims to be, that oil does push down and creates some weird over/under sometimes (I know there a million ways this can happen)
A few of my friends who are regional players notice it alot more than I do
I dont think Kegel would have come out with this new product if Ice was the answer for all the high friction lanes out there today
I know a couple very knowledgeable lane men that are struggling to make the shot and scores how the house wants to see with the Ice oil. the wet/dry is redonkulous sometimes

ICE is actually being used at the place my PSO took over on a brand new Pro Anvilane surface installed this past summer.  The few times I've thrown some games on it, I've also noticed that it seems to push down and gives some weird over/under as Dave81644 mentioned.  Now, my PSO is actually going to try using FIRE to see how that will perform on the surface.  One option she was mentioning was using FIRE for the lower scoring leagues and having ICE for the top scratch leagues.  My guess for that is because the lower scoring leagues were probably complaining that they can't keep the same shot they were used to on the old wood surface that was replaced.

The other house near me that has used Pro Anvilane for several years now ended up switching to Brunswick Logic oil about 2 seasons ago.  That actually seems to hold up really well and doesn't carry down as quick based on my own experience there.

My center put it out to "save the bowling alley" lol made everything worse...weird terrible house shot. Tons of over under...tons.

Very limited experience on Ice oil, except in nationals at 2014 nationals.  However I noticed on a house shot that I did not get a good reaction off my blue hammer when in the past it worked great on this shot.  On the other hand I got a great reaction with my Vibe on the 43 foot nationals pattern.  I think oils that tend to carry down work better if you use a longer buff out.  The transition then become one of tracking rather than carrying down before tracking.

I did a quick youtube search to see if there were any videos comparing the Heat to the Tour X and came up empty.  How do these two differ on the same conditions?  My guess would be roughly the same length but a smoother shape?  Not seeing someone throwing them both, it's just a guess though.  Any thoughts?
