Replacement for Desert Heat?
« on: September 17, 2006, 06:36:55 AM »
Is there something in Track's current line-up for dry lanes?

If not, is a new release coming soon?

thank you!

Not track but I just got a Orbit Extreme and still have my desert heat and they are very similar.

Yep same core as the Dessert Heat except it has Columbia's superflex coverstock. Looked pretty interesting to me

I need a ball to tame down our screamin backends. Was going to get a heat, but it look as if its out of production. Wonder if the Orbit extreme would be comparable. Not sure how much backend this ball has, hopefully not alot.

A buddy of mine uses his Animal for dry lanes.  He also uses it for med oil and heavy.  I couldn't beleive until I actually seen it on night of practice.  My Doom was hooking too much because the lanes were so fried.  He kept using his animal and was doing great.

The ball burns up on the dry but still produces a decent hook and hit.  This is so different than reactive balls.  One day when the AR first came out I went to the pro shop to pick it up.  Well I had my animal with me.  I grabbed a pair of lanes to just try out the AR.

The first I threw with my AR was nuts.  The ball hooked big time and hit the 7 pin.  I couldn't keep the AR on the right side of the lane.  I took out my Animal to compare it to my AR on this burnt up house shot.  Well my Animal was right in the pocket.  I would never of believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.  It was then that I realized that a ball does burn it's energy and wont hook as much on dry lanes.

I think you only see this with particle balls for the most part. The reactive balls just keep hooking more and more as the lanes get more dry.  Particle balls seem to hook less as the lanes get more dry.  I have found this to really be true.

Now there is a point where the particles will hook more and more.  But once the lanes dry to a certain point then the particle balls start hooking less.

If you want a great dry lane ball then find yourself a particle ball.  If you can find an animal you should be good to go.

chitown,

I have a particle ball, my freak. WOW or WOW 2 particles, can't remember. This ball hits like a marshmellow on dry lanes. Where I bowl at, the lanes are not dry, they just have screaming backends. Plenty of headoil to get the ball out, but the amount of angle creates is rediculous, and rather uncontrollable with either my Freak or my Fired up.

I noticed what seemed to be working on these screaming backends fairly well was solid reactives with really dull covers. Seemed to controll the overreaction on the dry. Thinking about taking my freak down to 800 or 600.

on backend that are flying, I just baught the Track Equation and that ball glides through the heads and just arcs toward the pocket when everything else I have just shoots with a weird angle of the dry.
