Title: Triton Coral-- single drill, released in 1997. Found one in a basement!
Post by: BowlingBallSale on November 02, 2013, 09:58:09 PM
Hey all---

Trying to get an idea of what you guys think a ball like this might be worth? Its a single drill, Triton Coral (looks like it was the second release in the line, after the original "Blue Ocean" Triton). At least a heavy 15, but I'm leaning towards 16lbs.

Doesn't look like it has ever been re-surfaced!; never plugged. Heck, even seems like the finger grips are the original as well! Was found sitting in a corner, and I couldn't resist taking it home!

Any idea what this piece might be worth? I know "not much" in bowling terms, but I'm thinking someone out there would value it a lot more "sentimentally" than anything else........ I threw it one shot (grip, span close enough to at least "half" throw it) then put it away to figure out what I might do. Probably going to put new grips in it (thought I don't use them normally) and see how close we can get the thumb/span/slug with my grip. I don't want to plug this "beauty" but I'm very interested in watching it go down the lane!

Also, if you would like to see pics of it-- I can't upload them here to the site. File is "too large"....... so email me at sb 2 bowl  at  a o l. c o m or PM me on here. Would be happy to share......... loved the series, and those old track balls. Nothing quite like them! (Yes, I am currently using a Heat 2....... another ball in the garage just waiting to be thrown. Loved it, the core/cover combo (though not strong now) and I've got it shinned up for dryer/burned mids).

Anyone? Heck, got anything to say about it? Thanks for taking part of the poll, interesting to see the results so far! (I'm looking at you-- the guy that voted for the last option............ forget the ball and drink beer!)

Thanks all, putting grips in it today. Need to work on the thumb and get the span correct. Gonna throw it, then probably sell it, or put it in the basement for another 10 years!

I don't think anyone would buy it.  If it was the original Triton Heat then you might possible get a nibble but wouldn't be much.  Not sure how much plug and re drill costs in your area but in my area, I wouldn't even bother.  It would be cheaper to get a Strike King.  Probably too heavy to donate it for youth leagues either.

16lbs hold little value used or new. At 15lbs maybe $40 shipped depending on condition.

Can you give me the name/number of that shop? Weighed the ball last night, its 15. Put new grips in it today, slug (maybe) tomorrow. Either PM me on here, or just reply to this post. Would love to get one! I'm currently using a Heat 2 from my high school days...... love that old track stuff!

I have the original triton heat....You guys think it might be worth something??  Mine is not in the best of shape currently as I still use it sometimes.  Got a chip by the fingertip and most of the serial # is unreadable.  The reason I got the heat was because my friend had one of the corals and I liked how it worked, but ended up having to get the heat instead.
