More thoughts on the Delta 1...

Yesterday I bowled on in a 3 game doubles tournament.
Here are the details below...

Lanes - Synthetic (looked to be murray pathfinders)
Oil Condition - Medium-Heavy with so-so backends and some hang around 1st arrow...right lane is also touchier in the outside with hang starting inside of the 1st arrow

We have 5 minutes of shadow ball and I noticed the hang area right away. This signaled that I must try not to get the ball out too far into the OOB. Funny thing, I only threw the Delta twice in practice (no pins during shadow ball) and thought I had a better look playing straighter with the Slash.

First game I shoot 217 with the Slash. I played the left lane starting the ball around 12-13 swinging to about 5. I came back and strung some strikes. I got lucky with a brooklyn on the right lane late in the game to put me over 200. Keep in mind, I am still fishing on the right lane. I was playing the right lane pointing up the 2nd arrow to the pocket. The oil started carrying down and coupled with the OOB, everyone started playing inside, washing out and burning up the middle portion of the lane (around 3rd arrow).

2nd Game I shot 207.  Got away with another brooklyn and a high trip 4 on the right lane. Everyone is still fishing on that right lane. Balls are skidding once it gets outside of the 7 board to the ditch.

3rd game. Now the left lane is starting to get tighter as the oil starts carrying down and the track area is starting to dry out. I stay with the Slash on the left lane and keep my speed up. Seems to be working, but I left a 7 pin and a 6-10 going high in a few frames on the left lane. As for the right lane, I used the Slash for 2 frames (1st & 3rd) and finally decided to pull out the Delta.

Remember that OOB around the 7-8 to gutter I was talking about on the right lane? well, I took the Delta out in the 3rd frame and played around the 8 board straight up. The ball got out to about the 5 board and totally drove through the OOB. I went high and left the durbin (3-6-9-10). Next time I use the ball on the right lane, I move left and lay the ball over the 12 board out to about the 5 board again and leave the durbin again! Ok, so now, it's the 7th frame, I'm moving left again and start the ball around the 17 board and swing the ball out to about 6-7 in the OOB and the ball just absolutely makes a very angular turn into pocket. Geez, what happened to the OOB everyone was having trouble with? The Delta 1 drove through it when none of the other balls on our pair could recover. Got up in the 9th and threw another strike on the same line. Finished with a 200.

Final thoughts. The Delta in Out of Box condition, combined with the layout (5 1/2 x 4 mb *near strong position*) is a monster on the backend. If the backends are clean, be careful, high revrate players may see some jumpiness. Adjust accordingly. I guess BTM was right, someone mentioned that BTM gave this ball awesome ratings on Heavy oil for a Reactive ball. I still need to throw some ball on heavier patterns to see what this ball can really do.

Hope this helps shed some light,
Regards, Ramstel Light
