Title: Videos...Rule, Animal, FreakaZoid, Untamed
Post by: tenpinspro on August 28, 2004, 02:49:19 AM
Figured I should re-do this cause it's still getting hits.

Animal(4x3.5mb 1.5 above midline) - shows the ball rolling up sooner than the Rule and played a little tighter, watch where my left foot ends up in comparison to Rule 1 or Rule 2 vid

FreakaZoid 1(4x3 1.5 above midline) - about 12-13 boards tighter than the Rule hitting about 13 to 7

FreakaZoid 2 - couple of boards tighter than FAZ1, about 12 to 8

Rule 1(4.25x4mb 3 above midline)- easy stroke shot from inside, notice the late breakpoint and easy recovery strength from very little effort

Rule 2 - another shot, straighter angle to see the hook better

Rule 3 - moved deeper and added a little turn to see the ball still enter high

Rule 4 - (Icetink's favorite) from deep inside to about 6 board with hit and it falls in the left hand gutter in front of the 7, per Ice...a must see...

Untamed(4.75x2.75mb 4 above midline) - same line as Rule 1 and 2 but this shows it doesn't recover to the pocket like the Rule does

Having problems viewing?..go to divx.com and download the divx codec file

Thanks again Roy and Icetink.....

LOL...I knew I was gonna get it.  You're supposed to be looking at the ball!..lol  The stutter probably comes from trying to generate momentum for the vertically challenged(pleases moderator) position I was given...  Now you know "WHY" Ex gives me such a hard time!

All who cant view, go to Divx.com, download the basic divx package. Once that is done, Save target as to your pc somewhere and then open up the vid through the divx player. Worked for me.

On edit, once you download the divx package, you can also play video in Windows Media Player too.

Hey Jeremy,

My layout was 4.25 x 4mb 3 inches above midline.  Offhand I can't remember what the statics were, I'm in Chicago right now...will get back to you when I get home tomorrow.

Yeah, sorry guys, wanted to see if I could meet a few of you here but just here for the weekend(no time), leaving in the morning.  Heading to Woodfield Mall I think though...drove past Willowbrook Lanes...wife would have killed me if I stopped..

Just added the Untamed link to the top...

Thanks to some coaching by Rick and reading Rock's post I was able to view it.

Rick, are you really that short OR did AMF just put really big ballreturns, pins and lanes in that place?

On a serious note....great comparison. Just from watching Rick use the Rule and having seen him bowl in the past, I think the Rule is the "answer" for all of you that have been worried about Track's highend rolling too soon, and not having enough backend because of the strong midlane. The Rule stores energy for the backends.

Guys,
Rick does not have a ton of hand, and for him to be able to play that deep and get that kind of reaction on the backends....this thing can recover, and recover strongly.

Good going Rick. Talked to Sean some, we may be putting of vids of balls soon, I will see if I can get my proprieter to put smaller ballreturns, pins and lanes in so I look bigger than I really am.

Thanks IceTink!  Picked up the ones "I" haven't even seen yet.  For those who have downloaded the vids, here's the comparisons between the last few.  These 4 balls were thrown on the same shot all that nite.

FAZ1 - This shows my foot finishing about 19-20, crossing 12-8 at the breakpoint.  That's about 13-14 boards right of where I finished with the Rule in a stroking mode.

FAZ2 - I moved about 2 more right and played even more direct down the lane.  The FAZ allowed me to square up quite a bit.  It gives me a very nice controlled look...

Rule3 - I moved even further left (finished about 5-6 left) and hit this shot a little more to show why I had to stroke it to the pocket in the other vids.  If I applied "any" type of lift, the Rule just took off on the backend.  I believe the ball crossed around 21-22 (vs 17-18) and still got out to about 5-6 before making it's move and STILL went high. (vid #'s used are the ones from IceTink)

The shots with the FAZ show that the lane did have some oil and that they weren't fried.  The Rule is that strong off some decent dry boards.  Thanks very much to Roy Munson for his time and Icetink too for putting these up as well.  Hope this helps you guys some, feel free to ask any questions that haven't been answered for you already.  Actually, if you guys feel this has been helpful, please let me know and I'll try to continue this in the future with new equipment for comparison.  (Roy, coming back to the States anytime soon?)

Hey Vasilis,

Yes, you should polish it up like your Money and see how much more length it gives you.  Remember, the longer we can delay the energy of of a bowling ball, the more powerful it is when that energy is released.  So yes, you would get better length and finish by polishing it up.  If you ever encounter any heavier conditions, just bring it back.  Track's covers have been very friendly to adjustments. (just had an feeling of deja vu)...(twilight zone music begins...)

Hey dbb,

The pattern was 38 buffed to 42? a little black and white(for me) with lite hang outside 5.  If you watched the FreakaZoid, you'll notice they're not completely fried so the Rule IS that much stronger.

This took years of changing my release from strong to weak to throw the higher tech equipment.  I increased my tilt which creates a ton of skid for the THS.  Turning it on and off for heavy oil is another story but overall, I don't see that many floods around.

My untamed is setup with the pin below the fingers about a inch and a half with the cg kicked to right and below the pin with the mb in a diagonal position from them both under the cg, with a small weight hole by the mb. My ball driller had it drilled for himself, he said he wanted to get length with great recovery. He had it polished because it was too strong. I just took my surface down from shiny. I didnt get a good read on the mediums yet because when I bowled yesterday it was so wet I had to pull out the animal. What do you think of this drill.

Hey lilphyzx,

It's a little hard to say without knowing some of your personal info.  Sometimes trying to utilize someone else's drill pattern is not the best for you because you may not roll the ball the same way.  It is more important to have the ball laid out for you to your track, revs, tilt and so on.  A pattern that works for one guy does not necessarily work for another, especially when we're dealing with higher tech asymmetrical balls.  It may be a little closer sometimes for symmetrical balls because the main influence is only the pin itself.  If you can get some personal details (pap) and how this ball(pin and mb) lays out to your pap, I can tell you what to expect out of it as is.  Hope this helps bud...

Track Freak-A-Zoid. Can anybody tell me some special features? I mean the reaction of the ball in heavy oil. I know that this ball is good for medium or dry lanes. I am going to buy it but I want this ball to have early breakpoint but controllable reaction. Send drillings please!!!

Hey JCD,

The FreakaZoid is meant more for medium conditions.  Unless you have a lot of turn or very slow speed, it will be pretty hard to make this a heavy oil ball.  We can help suggest a drilling if you supply us with some personal stats/details of your game (pap, revs, speed, rotation..etc)  Just post them and one of us will try and help, thanks.
