Assassin, Bighooks got a new track toy!
« on: November 11, 2005, 08:29:10 AM »
Oh yeah! I got a new toy to play with! Track Assassin, if i recall correctly this is one of the all time great track balls!? It was Pluged once but the plug job was FLAWLESS, just totally mixed in with the ball itself, and the ball its self looks like it might have had 5 games on it, so for the price (FREEEE) I had to saw yes to it! Now comes the wierd part! The drilling is the strangest thing I have ever seen, which is not rare as im pretty much dumb as a bunch of rocks when it come to drillings .

Here is something that might give you an idea of the drilling -

O-O-------P-
--------
----O---
-O------

The pin is WAY over by the PAP and the weight hole is about 3 inches away from the thumb hole and about 1 inch above.

If anyone is fimilar with this ball can you tell me what you got out of it, and if ANYONE has any knowledge of this drilling please fill me in, its still making me drop my mouth and say WHAT?????

Is the pin that far out?  Or like right next to ring finger?

basics of ball drilling/reaction...

3 3/8ths from pin to pap is the magical number for max hook and flare
anything shorter than that is earlier rolling and smoother
anything longer is more length and snappier backend.

weight hole in cg to remove excess side weight.

Seems the bowler had a very long pap from grip centre, and it was drilled early and smooth.

pretty straight forward imho...

Thanks tonx, the guy said it was quite aggressive for him, it just LOOKED sooo wierd, lol

WOW, just the ball i needed! Something that wont jump off the dry, but instead is very smooth off the spot and had quite a bit of backend! Weaker than my Phenom and X-Factor but i think i will really enjoy this ball. (only threw the ball 7 shots today, got 7 strikes)

The surface prep that was done is what made this a little smoother off the spot.  It caused it to "burn up" just a tad.

I dont think it was burning up at all really, it is not the out of box finish on it, it is a 1000 grit finish with some light polish. I'm going to use this ball tonight to see what it can do OFF the sport shot!

Congrats on the assassin, i had one and i would still be throwing it today if it had not cracked completely in half. I love the ball so much its still sitting on my desk even though its cracked.. Good luck with the ball, you should enjoy it.

WOW... AGAIN! Was subing tonight and chose to bring my X-Factor Deuce and the Assassin. Started out playing around 30 to 5 on the right lane (above ground returns here) and 35 to 5 on the other (normal speed, was throwing fast on the right) and the ball was reacting very well, very smooth break point but a very strong arc to the pocket. Come the third game i decided that i would use the X-Factor and compare them, the X-Factor was burning up a little, so i couldn't tell how much stronger it was to well, but even with burning up it was about 5 boards stronger with a later break down the lane.

Honestly I think i can expect some more great things from this ball, ijust love its reaction and think it will be a great ball at States!
