Track Havoc
« on: February 21, 2006, 08:20:21 AM »
I think I need my head examined. I had a 14# Havoc that I loved, but went to 15# balls. I bought a 15# Havoc and then stored it in the closet. Tried to sell it once, but then after talking to a few people on this site decided to keep it. Well, I decided to drill it up last week and drilled it 4 1/4 x 4 1/2 with Pin under RF and touching the bridge and MB 4 1/2 from the PAP. Left ball in box finish. Used it today on some new Brunswick Sythentic Lanes that were installed last August in one of the houses I bowl in. Every ball I have and tried just didn't seem to have quite enough "pop" on the backend including but not limited to a Storm Paradigm, Xception 5.0, GP2, Triple X Factor, V2 Pearl, etc., but this ball today had "pop" on the backend. I shot 244-169-226, total 639. I'm not bragging on my scores, I am bragging on the ball on these slick lanes how it had great "pop" on the back end with a hard angular drive coupled with length. Had I not had some problems with my mechanics, no telling what I might have shot.

Thanks to all of you people including but not limited to tenpinspro, EXCALIBER, chittown, etc. for talking me into keeping this ball. First ball I have had that did what I wanted in 5 months of bowling on these new Brunswick Sythentic Lanes. Now I wish I had another to drill up for the wood lane house I bowl in....lol

Brick,

I have one NIB with good specs (3.25 top, 3-4 inch pin). If you want it, maybe we could discuss an offer.

Good deal Brick, I figured the layout should be fine.  Does it look like your first one in reaction?

Rick, much better, but of coarse the first one was 14# and had a different surface on it. The first one was sanded to 500 Grit with an Abralon Pad and polished with 3M Finesse It where as this one is 15# in NIB finish (1500 Grit?) and Pin a wee bit further from PAP then the first one. I bowl in the wood lane house today, so I can compare it to the old one in this house. Since it was a perfect match-up in the Synthetic house yesterday, I suspect it may be a wee bit earlier in the wood house today. I just couldn't believe the back-end being that strong and the ball never hesitating or quitting in the Synthetic house yesterday. After 2-3 more sessions in that house, I will know for sure the over-all performance of this ball in the Synthetic house.

Rick, the Havoc was too early on a fresh oil shot today in the wood lane house. Not enough length. Started hooking 8-10' or so past the arrows. There appeared to be plenty of oil on the lanes so I don't know if the oil is too short or what. I'm sure if I polished the ball, that it would help, but then it might not work in the Synthetic house. If the ball continues to perform in the synthetic house, I'll have to find something different in this house. One of my sons has my 14# Havoc, so I couldn't try it but I did try my 14# Triple X and it got good length and a strong back-end, but I put it back in my bag due to my recently converting back to 15# as when I throw 14# and then go back to 15#, it messes me up.

I'll be bowling in this wood lane house again tomorrow so I'll try the Havoc again and see what happens.

The havoc is more then likely the only ball track has ever made that can be said that when you got it you loved it. I dont know anyone who rolled this ball and said I completly hate it. This ball is totaly a diamond in the rough. The idea of this kind of ball for that price was great. The way it worked on the lanes was great. The core was just so versital. I have seen people like carl drill it and use on a light heavy oil shot. I have seen people like my bro drill it and polish it and play on light oil. I have seen me have it in a controled drilling and then be able to play it on whatever condition I wanted. Just depended on the cover. I for one feel this was the best reactive ball ever made by track and I totaly love my delta 1 and desert heat.
