Title: Xception 5.0 resurface
Post by: WSUstroker on September 03, 2007, 04:53:27 AM
Ok guys, my mother has a 5.0 that is need of a resurface, but I'm unsure of the best way to get it back to box (or near box finish).  I believe its OOB finish was 1000 grit compound.  IIRC, the compound finish is typically clean n sheen, which I have some of.

What underlying grit do you guys uses before applying CnS?

Thanks in advance guys.

Dan,

IMHO using clean n sheen would be a mistake. Do you have access to a Haus Machine or something similiar?

Carl, no I don't.  I was planning on attempting this with my spinner at home.

Getting the 5.0 back to box IMHO is the hardest thing to do in bowling. I tried so many times to get it back to box. I couldnt do it on mine or any other 5.0 I tryed to get back to box.

Dan,

Give it a try with the spinner, but if you cannot get it back to box have it done on a Haus Machine. My suggestion would be to take it up to 4000 abralon and see how that works.

Trying it on a spinner never got it back for me, or Scoot for that matter. The Clean n Sheen kept it from having the initial flip on the backend that I got with it.

Hey Guys, what about resurfacing it to 1000 and then burning on a coat or 2 of Clean and Dull? Might give it just a light shine! Just a thought.

It really doesn't need to be exact to box, she only bowls one league and bowls few tournaments, so duplicating the original reaction isn't 100% necessary.  I'll take it up to 4000 and see what she thinks.  Thanks for the help!
