Hey Rick! tenpinspro.....

Hi!

I've seen your demo video clips, and I think my release is quite similar to yours, only your rev rate is ten times more than me!!!

Anyway, where is the oil track on your ball, with your normal release? As I'm quite new to these 'technical language', please tell me in plain English!! As well as the location of your PAP!!!

Many many thanks!!!

Ar, also, what's your normal ball speed???

Cheers Rick

Hey Charlie,

You're a very brave person to say (in public) you throw the ball like me.  If this is true, I'd suggest taking up another sport..

Seriously, my normal pap is 5 over 3/4 up.  However, on the higher flaring equipment, my track tends to be lower.  It's probably closer to about 4 1/2 and 3/4 up, I'll double check it and get back to you.  My ball speed is around 14-14.5, with the aid of steroids, I may get it up to 15.8 on my 10 pins.

Feel free to pm me if there's something I can help you with.

Cheers Rick!

Anyway, due to injury, I've been adviced to drop down a lb in ball weight (from 14 to 13).

So I'm gonna need a 2-ball arsenal (one of them being a spare ball) for the next 3-6 months.

I don't like altering surface, so what track ball will do it all for me?

I quite like the spec on the Xception, it should have no problem on THS or the heavier tournament conditions, and I'm comfortable playing anywhere between 1st to 4th arrow, but can it handle light head oil condition, with slight carry down(typical 'practice condition' for me)???

And if the Xception is my one and only ball, shall I just have a simple label leveage drilling?

I've just seen the Track website, a 13lb Xception does not have MORPHEUS REV-LEVER core, instead it has 'Core 3 Technology'.  What would that do?!?

Also

this happens to me as well, why is that?!?  I'm glad you've said that, cos I keep thinking that maybe my release is wrong.

All my balls were drilled based on the PAP from a low flaring ball (naturally higher track), so would my high flaring balls not work as well as they should be, because of the change of PAP/lower track?  Or would the effect be minimal and I've nothing to worry about?!?

Many thanks for your help!

Hey CB,

I think the Xception is an excellent choice for an all around ball because you'll need some coverstock strength for driving power if you're dropping to 13.

The 13lb core 3 technology is a cylinder shaped block with rg ratings of 2.60 and .047 differential.  You're pretty safe with the label leverage drill since we're dealing with a symmetrical block now.  This should get you thru until you build your strength back up to get into a 14-15 where we can then fully utilize the Rev Lever core design.

In regards to the lower track on high flaring ball question, I truly don't have an answer for you.  I just know what I see for myself and a few others.  I have a couple of ideas though, it can be the actual placement of the core to begin with which places it in a different angle or it's been discussed that the ball is actually moving already from release to lane.  I know it seems hard to believe but it does seem to happen.  I've pulled inverted tracks off finger holes by drilling stack lev so it can be the ball or core placement IMHO.  Maybe KOTM, khamul or some of the more technical guys can explain it better then I can.  Hope this helps some...
