Would the Xception

Would the Xception be a good replacement for an Untamed?? Are they equal in strength? I know that the Untamed has more midlane and less backend, but would they be able to be used on the same amounts of oil??

From looking at the numbers, it looks as though the Untamed would handle heavier oil patterns a little better.  Of course you can use either one on medium type patterns.  But, on carrydown or longer oil patterns, the Untamed is going to be more beneficial.  On the flip side, the Xception would probably handle medium-dry conditions better than the Untamed.  As far as a replacement is concerned, I think a Rule with the right drilling would suit it better than the Xception.  Reason for this is because the Rule being a solid will get into a roll sooner and therefore handle heavier oil better than the Xception.

I think it would all come down to surface preperation.  The Xception is stronger than the Untamed once both are at the same surface.  The Xception cover has more midlane without sacrificing recovery than the Untamed.

Hey Rock,

I have both these balls drilled differently so they don't compare as well but I also feel my Xception is stronger than my Untamed in comparison (with all things being equal).  My 2 reactions are exactly as you stated, Xception goes longer with a big backend and my Untamed rolls much sooner with an even arc on the back (drilled that way, 2.5mb).  It'll just depend on the reaction you're looking for, hope this helps.

I had the same problem in oil. I polished it and started to use in on medium (blocked) conditions and have been much happier with it. The Phenom or Animal still work the best in oil for me.
