Is it a big deal that my Rule is showing a track? I really have not thrown many games ~30. I also have tried to keep it clean. Just wondering.

Hey MC,

Not to worry until you start seeing a change in reaction. That's when maybe it's time for a lite resurface. Actually, any good soft ball will track up if the lanes are a little worn, this is how you know it's doing its job (creating friction). Just curious, are you on wood or synthetic? I've also seen older synthetics burn up as well...

Mike,

It is not really a worry. Rick and I had this discussion (not about the ball tracking up), the Rule has the largest footprint of any ball I have ever seen. This means that one flare ring is hitting the lane alot. It is very wide. When you throw the ball look at the oil on that ball versus the oil on another. I bet you will see that the Rule's oil ring (just one line of oil will show you this) is wider.

So with that factored in with old wood lanes you will see a track develope. As Rick stated though, if you are not seeing a loss in reaction I would not be overly concerned about it.

You guys nailed it right on the head. Old wood lanes and it is a very wide track and oil ring. I noticed that last week. I also think that the oil amount is probably med-hvy and it is really flying on the back. It will take some time to get used to seeing my ball do that, lol. I think my next dive into Track world will be the X-eption, unless they bring out another ball that sounds great.

By the way who would/can do the resurfacing if it is needed?

Mike,

Your local pro shop should be able to resurface it for you. I would not consider resurfacing until you have a badly tracked up track area OR you see a loss in reaction. Ofcourse the loss in reaction is what would be most important.

Hey Mike,

When you finally "see" a change in reaction or lack there of, then have it done.
I agree with Ex, take it to a reputable shop to have the work done. Preferably one that uses a Haus or similar machine, they work wonders in comparison to a a job done by hand.
