Trying 15lbs here is the situation with my Xception
« on: May 05, 2005, 07:10:56 AM »
Yeah trying to get used to 15lb might be switching which is bad cause i gotta probably buy two new balls but good cause i gotta buy two new balls... lol ... right now i tend to chuck it a little to hard with the 15lb ... yea i like the ball hits like a truck... question i have is i've totally changed my grip thanks to a grip pro shop here... i was at 1/8 forwad on my fingers and 3/8 reverse on my thumb... i have shortened my span and moved to 1/4 reserve on fingers and 0 on the thumb... did this on there suggestion and shot my 300 and 299 a few months later...  question is how far can i go with the thumb.. i started with 1/8 reverse and gone to 0 and at first on the change the ball feels like i gotta relax my hand to get out of it but then after i bowl with it for a while it comes out easy but i don't know if its to easy or should i move to 1/8 forward...

I really like the wieght of 15lbs feels like i'm on balance more when i throw it... also one problem i had with 16lbs is i never felt like i could really throw it harder or slower if i needed to...

Hey frock,

Too hard to say what pitch you can use without having the details to your span change and seeing your hand.  There are generic standards in changing pitches while shortening a span but every individual can be slightly different.  The only advice I can offer is to try the 1/8 forward and see how it feels.  Are you dropping the ball right now at zero?  If not, what's your reasoning for wanting to change to 1/8 forward?  A lot of times when we set/change pitches for an individual, it's still a little bit of a guestimate per guidelines and then we fine tune from there to that individual.  Hope this helps explain some...
