Xception vs. Storm Ace
« on: November 28, 2004, 12:49:59 PM »
Anyone have any info on how these 2 balls compare.  Looking at both but only want to get one.  I know all the normal things Part. pearl vs. reactive pearl etc.  I just wanted to know if anyone has thrown or seen both to compare.  Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen the Ace in action at all but I'll try to give you coverstock  differences since I'm fairly familiar with Accu-Tread.

IMHO, the Xception will be much stronger downlane because of a) the GOO cover is stronger than Accu-Tread and b) it's pure resin.  Accu-Tread for me was cleaner and a little weaker downlane than PowerPlus/SuperFlex.  GOO is stronger than PowerPlus.  I don't know how strong the core is in the Ace, but the core in the Xception is extremly strong.  So, given that the Xception has a stronger cover and at least as strong a core, I would assume that the Xception would be stronger overall...especially downlane.

Hope that helps.

I have seen the Ace several times and had it thrown against me this weekend at a regional event in Beaumont Tx. The ace is smoother and is not as strong on the backend as the Exception. The cores are very different and so are the covers. The core of the Exception is designed to kick more in the backend and the cover is stronger as well. I know people that like the Ace but it doesn't backend anything like the Exception. I don't get to use the Exception as much as I would like because I don't bowl on a lot of oil normally but I love to throw it because it recovers soo hard and carries everything!!!

I hope this helps a little. If you have any more questions holler at me and I will try to help.

Hey Jeff,

Just saw the Ace in action too and I have to agree with Thumbs away.  The Ace rolled much sooner while the Xception can get down lane easier and cleaner for more backend reaction.  Hope this helps...

Thanks to everyone for their comments. This is what I thought just based upon stats and seeing the Ace in action.  I have not had the pleasure of seeing an Xception (except WRW's).  Order will be placed today for an Xception.
