Xception vs XXX

Currently I have a XXX, pin is just above and to the right of the ring finger, about 4.5 inches from my axis with the RAD just to the right of the thumb.  Can I drill an Xception to be different enough difference to justify having both?  The XXX is pretty flippy, I'd like more ARC.

Any opinions?

The Xception, it's quite a 'get down the lane and move' ball.  If you're looking for an arcing ball (from Track), go with a Rule or Animal because they will definitely give you a strong arc.  

The problem with having balls from different companies that (are supposed to) handle the same amounts of oil is there might be an overlap even if you drill them differently and intend them not to.  The Xception is likely to be stronger than your XXX but the length and reaction shape MIGHT overlap.

If Storm currently matches up to your game very well, I'd suggest getting an archy ball from them.  I've heard a lot of great things about the XXXtreme and Ace so those might be great choices for you.

You definitely don't want the ace if you are looking for an arc backend.  The triple should give you the arc backend.  Maybe you are confusing a FLIP with a HARD ARC.  Not saying that that you are a liar maybe just mistaken or maybe you are right depending on your bowler profile.  A ball that gets good length and arcs from storm would be the recharge if the triple x doesn't do that for you or the original x factor.

Without seeing you bowl and just basing it on ball specs, I would have to recommend the Rule. I have three, and they are VERY versatile. I have 2 out of the box surface and one polished up, and I have 3 distinct different reactions. The Rule is an awesome ball!

Dan, follow Clints advice, Xception is like Track says, "Long and Strong" more skid snap, mine is drilled for exactly that, I have seen a few Rules thrown and they are like Clint said, more arc and versatile.  Hope this helps.

Hey Dan,

The Rule and Animal are a little more "archy" but they are also designed to handle more oil.  Based on your profile, I can see the Xception drilled properly for "arc" but like Icetink mentioned, it may overlap some.  Since you already have the XXX, I'd say to drill some static weight out(you can also take the shine off to about a 1000 flat), even make it negative if necessary to help decrease the snap and then look into the Rule/Animal for a heavier oil condition.  

Even though the Xception is a a longer ball, it really doesn't snap like some resins for me.  The Goo cover seems to be in between a snappy resin and particle even with my slow speed and tilt.  If you saw my Rule vids, you'd see a very strong arc and that was drilled for length and snap.  Hope this helps some...

Thanks for the suggestions thus far, but I'm not looking to change the XXX, I like the way it reacts.  I just want to try a Track ball and wanted something that could compliment the XXX or used on a similar shot when the XXX just isn't getting the job done.  And from what I've heard the Rule and Animal would be WAY too much ball unless I put a ton of polish on them or put some crazy length drilling on it, which would defeat the purpose of the ball.  

What about the Untamed?  That's solid resin, but not quite as strong as the GOO, right?

If you're looking to try a Track ball, the Rule is the way to go...very very versatile, and too much power is always better than not enough power.  If the Rule is drilled the same as your XXX, I'm sure it'll compliment it quite well.  It should start up earlier (because of the dull coverstock) and have more overall hook and continuation.

Dan, I've thrown a bunch of Track and also seen a bunch of it thrown, and from knowing what I know about your game (which isn't too much) I would say that the Untamed would probably be a good idea.  It is very versatile (just like most high-end Track stuff) and with the right drill (and cover prep, I shined mine) it will be rather arcy.  It's a great ball with good continuation, and it's not necessarily REALLY strong either.

Dan,

Go with the Rule. It is alot of ball, but it is also very versatile. If you put a good layout on the ball it will compliment the XXX very well. It will pick up its roll sooner, and cut through oil in the backends than the XXX will not. I hope this helps.

Hey Iketown,
I got that XXX you sold me. It was in great condition..thanks.Had it redrilled to max arc...3-3/8x 3-3/8. Did this based on a need in my arsenal. My first impressions with this ball, are that it is indeed "flippy", which surprises me. I have always considered Storm balls kinda long on the skidding, and soft on their eventual move to the hole! I can get it into a continuous arc by changing my release, but with my normal 45 degree release, it tends to want to jump just a little on the backend. With your original drill on the ball, it was go long and snap at the end. First time I've ever seen that with a Storm ball. Can't wait to see what the Xception looks like.

you are all gay and have no idea what your all talking about. sorry got to go will be back. Buy the xcept and drill it stack with cg just off thumb to the left 4in pin 4oz head keep otb finsih and play up the 5 no slidin very accurate and watch that ball kill. just like i did for my 40th. thanks!!!!
