Title: Yep, I am obsessed!!!
Post by: clintdaley on April 16, 2006, 11:31:39 PM
Well, decided before the state tourney this weekend to fill a few gaps in my arsenal....I punched up Robo Rules #9 and #10! Here is what I already had with pics of the layouts below the descriptions. I wanted something with the pin just above the fingers to help the ball get a few feet further down the lane. Mostly everything else I have is pin below/even with the fingers, around 2-2 3/4 above the midline...so for Robo #9 I decided to leave the factory surface on the ball and place the pin above the ring (about 3 1/4 inches above midline, 5 inches from PAP) with the mass bias swung out 1 3/4 from the VAL. Extra hole int he thumb quadrant on the VAL 2 inches below PAP. I had a Rock On drilled very similar to this (no mass bias on it though) and really like the way this ball handled oil. While it was not the best oil ball, games 2,3 or 2nd shift (which I bowl Saturday at Inter City) it killed....

Robo #10.....I decided to drill like an old Avenger I had. Ball got decent length and had a super move (had a high diff though). Placed the pin 1 1/4 from PAP, 1 3/4 above midline with the mass bias just right of the thumb alomst 5 inches from the VAL. Left the factory surface on. Ball is similar on a fresh shot to another Robo, but there is a difference and I am sure if I hit drier stuff, this one will shine. Did not get to throw it much due to the holiday and stuff, so can't give you a real great feel yet....

#1 Pin 2 inches above midline, 3 1/2 from PAP.....mass bias 3 1/2 from VAL, factory surface

#2 Same as #1 but has Delayed Reaction on it

#3 Pin 1 1/2 above midline, 5 1/4 from PAP, mb 2 1/2 from VAL, factory surface

#4 same as #3 but with Delayed Reaction

#5 Pin 2 above midline, 4 1/2 from PAP, mass bias 6 1/4 from VAL, factory surface

#6 same as #5 but with Delayed Reaction

#7 Pin 4 inches above midline, 5 1/4 from PAP, mass bias 5 inches from VAL, factory surface

#8 Pin 2 1/2 inches above midline, 6 inches from PAP, mass bias 5 inches from VAL, Delayed Reaction

(NEW) #9 Pin 3 1/4 above midline, 5 inches from PAP, mass bias 1 3/4 from VAL, factory surface.

(NEW) #10 Pin 1 3/4 above midline, 1 1/4 from PAP, mass bias 5 inches from VAL, factory surface

I think I got you guys confused...I am not bowling THE state tourney, only the State Inter City tourney this weekend....my bad on choice of words....

Yep...I can carry 2 totes on each shoulder...wasn't bad before, but now with 14 balls 2 trips is rediculous sometimes....

Clint,  All I can say is you will get to see the drier shot you wanted on the double/singles.  We bowled the doubled and single on the wood side of the house (team was on synthetic side).  I shot 683 in double throwing the Desert Heat 17 - 5.  They were flying.

From what I understand, the synthetic side is much higher scoring (I have 3 friends who all shot over 800 in team) and did ok in doubles/singles, but they all said how much more room they had in team event! One guy who was leading all events when he left happened to get on the synthetic side for doubles/singles (I BELIEVE) and shot 730+ both of those sets (his story).....

Clint I was just woundering what the person you deal with from ace mitch. had to say when you had them send you two more. I have been there a few times to pick stuff up for carl and the pro shop. Anyway when you start to sell them save number 3. I may want that one. LOL. Dont worry I only need one.

Clint, I'm curious do you have your own production line for these balls in Track's factory, or do they just shut down for the day to do a run of balls for you?????
Title: Re: Yep, I am obsessed!!!
Post by: clintdaley on April 17, 2006, 01:02:08 PM
Yes, Track actually puts all of their orders on hold for a day when I call! Just kidding. I also rent a UPS truck to get everything to me straight from San Antonio so they don't have to make any other stops.

Yes, Rev, I am taking my UPS truck to Toledo this weekend, thus why I could not bring the kids without a backseat....and even if it did, I need places to put my stuff! Even though its only a 3 1/2 trip for me, I am leaving 8 hours early to accomodate for the extra weight....hope I make it on time...maybe I will have to leave the wife somewhere if the load is too much for it to handle....

And don't forget, this does not include the 3 or 4 I had last year as well.

Mark,

As for Ace, they cringe everytime I call....trust me! Even though most of my stuff comes directly from Track, I also deal with a few other distributors as well.

One good thing....at least I can't say I didn't have the right drill for what I was seeing! Now, its a matter of surfaces.

Its is a great ball. Its exactly how I felt about the GP2 last year...but I feel, due to the lighter load of particles, the Robo is more versatile than the GP2 was for me. I know on ebay there have been some 2nds going for real cheap....not a bad way to pick up a great ball for little cash.

If I get rid of any, I have had a few messages about that, I will let you guys (and gals) know.

#3 Pin 1 1/2 above midline, 5 1/4 from PAP, mb 2 1/2 from VAL, factory surface

#4 same as #3 but with Delayed Reaction

Clint,    Have been thinking of punching up a ball with this drill. With my PAP , pin would be under middle finger. How does this drill compare to leverage...how does it compare to 5" from PAP only above finger(#9) ?

Thanks, Al

p.s.   I heard a good ball to use at innercity is a newer one by Track....Robo something...you may want to pick one up...drill it pin on axis and mb on your track for control....great shot this year at inner city...dry out, good hold in, and good backs with great carry.

Title: Re: Yep, I am obsessed!!!
Post by: clintdaley on April 19, 2006, 06:14:19 AM
Along03.....it depends on your PAP....the further away from your PAP, the longer it takes for the pin or mass bias to get there, the longer the ball spins down the lane before picking up a roll. In general, that would have ok length, but not as much as you probably could get out of it....

Rev-O....I don't know...I remember taking that 700 pound giant up the 20 steps upstairs to the shop...YIKES!

Alzgarvin....Yes, mine ends with the pin below my fingers as well, ball is cleaner through the heads and this drill picks up a roll the best out of all my Robos in the mids...I use these 2 whenever I can as I feel they give me more charge than anything else....

Clint, it was a pleasure meeting you and bowling with you (and Revo and Mark) this weekend. When Steve told me you had ten Robo Rules under the table, I headed straight to the restroom to avoid pi55ing my pants from laughing. I thought I was nuts for hauling in 7 DIFFERENT Buzzsaws. As you know, I only needed 3 of them (Cobalt=med/light, Bullet=really light, and XXXL=plastic). Kudos to you for making do with what you had. I still have no clue how you were carrying the 5 pin when the ball was still moving right as it hit the 1-3 pocket! Doesn't matter. You made it work. I feel bad (not really) for the guys throwing 2nd shift. It was pretty dry when we left. I would like to try it though. I had the right stuff and was lined up the last 3 games.

I look forward to giving it another go with you guys next year.

PS...Bring your ten Robo Rules next year AND one dry lane ball! LOL!

Agreed, my ball reaction was weird from the angle I was playing. Probably why I didn't shoot big, but had enough juice to constantly go 220-230....yeah....carrying the 10 in 5- 2 ball totes is a treat, especially when I am trying to do it all in one trip!

Clint,      10 balls......4 ball roller (2 and 2 stack), 2ball tote set on top with straps wrapped around handle to keep from sliding off, 2 ball tote over right shoulder(same arm to pull stack), 2 ball tote either over left shoulder or in hand depending if you have to open a swinging door or not.  To add more, ....2 ball tote on back (over shoulder and over head kinda like golf clubs) , 2  2ball totes over right pulling shoulder(elbow must keep pressure against over shoulder totes to keep from rolling off shoulder!), 2 ball tote over left shoulder and 2 ball tote in left hand. ( someone needs to get door )...= 16 balls ( my personal max)

I talked to a guy at nationals a couple years back (when it was in knoxville) who had gotten in a car wreck on his way down from New York.  He was in the pro shop buying 10 new bowling balls because he left the 37 balls that he was bringing with him in the car when it had gotten wrecked, so he need new stuff.

Me personally I have a 3-4 ball inline bag. For league I usually leave the 4th ball bag at home and take the 3 ball bag and a tote bag.  For tornament I add the 4th ball and also a joey to make it a 5 ball bag and still take my 2 ball bag.  I figure that if I can't figure it out with one of the 7 balls that I am taking that it wasn't ment for me to figure out.

I agree, that would be easier, however, I try to cut corners where possible, and my thoughts are this, I have 5 totes which can carry 10 balls....the 5 totes costs less than 1 4 ball roller would..., plus, the 4 ball roller can tip, run through snow/water ans get the surrounding area wet and then you walk in it...etc....I am just not a big fan of rollers...
