USBC Nationals (My Results)
« on: July 11, 2009, 12:07:46 PM »
Well after a long wait and some postings on here about the previous results, I bowled my singles and doubles last nite. Living here in Las Vegas, I watched a few times and wondered what I would be facing. Bowled my doubles with Josh Blanchard, for those of you that do not know him he is former Jr. Team USA. He bowled the mega bucks last week, finished 3rd at the high roller, 3rd at the TAT, and 4th at the Mini. Great week for him!

So we took the lanes at 1130pm to bowl, not many people on this squad. No brackets unfortunately. We started off kind of slow, he shot 171 and never struck on the right lane, I shot 233 with a 4-6-7 in the 9th(cost me 30 clean). Game 2 he shot 213 and I struck all but 2 times for 254. Game 3 we both started off big, him with the front 6 me with the front 7. Josh shot 256, I ended up with 259. So he shot 640 with me shooting 746. For a total of 1386. A few more breaks for him and put up a decent 1400.

So then we move pairs for singles. They were a little tighter for me down lane. I caught a triple in the middle of the game for 221 game 1. Game 2 I started with the front 8 before leaving a stone 8 pin and ended with 269. Game 3 I started getting a little early hook and when I tried to go left and around the spot, the ball just wouldn't make the corner and I would leave 2 pin combinations. I spared the 6-7-10 in the 3rd frame of the 3rd game to keep the 30 clean streak alive. I ended with 211 for 701. Josh and I both shot 701 and both went 30 clean in singles. I wnet 59 of 60 clean.

I use a hyroad the whole time with the pin above and a small weight hole. Nothing to crazy with the surface, it was 4000 and probably had about 40 games on it since then. I started doubles playing about 15-10 and never got deeper then about 19/20-10/12. Singles I started back right as they were a little tighter down lane, moving back to playing 15-10 and I was able to move a little left from there but not as much as the doubles pair.

I will be bowling team on friday at 230pm. Need a pretty decent set for a good all events score! I will update this after team on Friday.

****TEAM UPDATE****

Well bowled team event finally. Guys I thought started a little bit to far left, they were into 15 from the start of practice. I think we really needed to be around 8-10 to start and then move left. I ended up deciding to use a Hyroad from the start. So first game was a grind for 203 with 1 open, missed a 3-10. Second game was pretty good, could of caught a break or 2, but shot 214 clean. The last game they finally started to burn up and we started going left more, was into about 22 at the arrows. Had alot of spares, mostly 2 pins and 4 pins. Finally had a triple for 215. So I shot 632 with 1 open. Managed to make a couple bucks in brackets as well.

So the overall was 632 in Team, 746 in Doubles, and 701 in Singles. All events of 2079. The goal going into team was to get to 2100, fell a little short. Still a top 50 performance. Also went 88 out of 90 clean in the tournament. I tried to give Jeff a run!! Maybe next year!

Which lanes were you on?

Final update, haven't been on in awhile so I will reply to some questions and final standings.

Duke I believe we were on 31 and 32 for team and then 23 and 24 for D/S

oddd yes Josh will be a name soon enough. 21 yrs old and just finished 2nd to Mika at a European Bowling Tour event in Barcelona, Spain. BTW Mika only shot 289 at him, kind of tough to beat that!!

Final Standings:

Rank Event      Division    Games     Prize   Score
49   All Events Regular  632,746,701  1635    2079
34   Doubles    Regular  233,254,259  912     1386
440  Team       Regular  203,214,215  146     2920
423  Singles    Regular  221,269,211  356      701

Plus a 30 clean check as well

I will take a few extra bucks that is for sure!! Onto Reno next year!

I think this is a very good "take that!" post to the naysayers who criticized Geroge after some of his comments about Ron Vokes.  No FIGJAM.  Great shooting Mr. Palumbo.

DJ, you are very correct and thank you. I had alot of people give me crap about how did I do at nationals this year because I said they were so easy! So I decided I would post on here and let those people see how I did bowl.

Lisa thank you as well.

Truth, again not a FIG here by any means. Plenty of people know me on these boards already and what I have accomplished. My bowling speaks for itself, I don't have to come on these boards and boast or brag about my bowling. I let my results do the talking for me. This was posted again for those people that thought I was talking smack about Vokes and how easy the conditions were at nationals this year. Alot of people gave me crap about how I bowled and for me to post my standings, so here they are!
