Email received from Peter Hagin on the California "Anti-State" tournament
The 2014 California’s Better Prize Fund Tournament, more commonly known as the “Anti-State†has made a few changes to make itself even more bowler friendly! The revised flyer, entry form, & rules can be found at www.bowlbayarea.com (http://www.bowlbayarea.com/) .
First of all, to adhere more to the bowling season, the dates of the event have been pushed back. The event will now begin on Saturday August 30th and run 4 weekends through September 21st.
Also, we now have given bowlers more ways to complete the tournament in one day if they choose. Each day will now have at least 1 Doubles & Singles squad and 1 team squad. On both days, D & S will begin at 9:30 A.M.and after a break to clean & oil, the team squad will begin at 1:30 P.M. In addition, 3 of the 4 Saturdays will have a 7:00 P.M. squad.
For the scratch player, we’ve set aside a team squad just for you, Saturday September 6th @ 7:00 P.M. On this squad, the scratch high game pots are GUARANTEED to pay at least $100 for 1st & $50 for 2nd each game. The scratch high series pot is GUARANTEED to pay at least $200 for 1st & $100 for 2nd. All teams on this squad must play either one of the scratch divisions or the 800 & Up handicap divisions.
Ladies, if you bowled in Stockton just $4 from your $30 entry went to the Prize Fund. If you bowl the Anti-State, we’ll put more than 4X that amount in. They posted their prize fund and nobody made more than $100 if the WON the team event. $17 vs. $4 If you bowled an open division tournament in San Diego, just $5.50 of your $30 entry went into the Prize Fund. If you bowl the Anti-State, we’ll put more than 3X that amount in. $17 vs. $5.50 I was told by a California Hall of Famer that the same tournament, which moves both divisions to Oroville in 2015 announced at their convention that their prize fund is increased to $8.50. However, they didn’t announce that they are increasing their entry fee to $35 per person per event.
The CBPFT has 5 different divisions, so we have something for everyone! We have 2 scratch, 3 handicap, & 2 divisions for women. Teams, doubles, & singles can enter more than 1 division with the same scores. To enter an additional division, the cost is only $20 AND $17 of that goes into the prize fund.
Confirm your spot in the 1st CBPFT (Anti-State) by sending your entry to Diablo Valley Bowl, 1500 Monument Blvd., Concord, CA 94520…Attn: CBPFT
You can also reserve your spot with an email to bowl857@comcast.net , however payment needs to be made at least 7 days prior to bowling.
