For those heading to the OC soon just a heads up on travel while in Vegas. Trying to get out of the airport via Uber or Shuttles is pretty bad at this time.

All of the shuttle windows are closed with a note to find a driver and pay cash. We saw only one shuttle in the 45mins we were there and they are only going to the closest hotels near the airport.

Uber had about 100 people waiting in its loading area. We were unable to get a Uber at the time it would say none are available across different rate options they had listed. This also happened a lot later on when trying to move around Vegas from place to place.

Cabs were the best way out of the airport and they have a flat rate systems from the airport comparable to Uber prices which was surprising.

The line for shuttles to get to the rental cars was about 300 deep and looked to be extremely slow as well.

We use Uber for getting around in Vegas and it typically works really well but with so many off on unemployment bonus money this is not nearly as easy to do right now. Talked with several of the Uber drivers who said it has been crazy and they don't have enough drivers for the crowds. Average wait was over 20 mins to get one to you if they didn't cancel. Early on you could get around pretty well but as the day goes on and people get out and start moving it gets a lot harder and takes a lot longer. Many times you can get one going out somewhere but trying to find a return one later becomes a lot harder.

Just be mindful going out especially if using Uber that you may need to plan leaving for the events or places a lot earlier then normal. Hopefully it isn't as much of an issues during the week as it is on the weekend.

Appreciate your feedback on your experience out there, sounds like a zoo, but we'll navigate it. My group bowls June 1-2, so be out there soon.

I rented a car. We got in about 7 pm and by the time we got there they were pretty much out of cars. I had a full size car reserved and ended up with a Jeep Grand Cherokee at no additional cost. But the lot was virtually empty.

Some in my group used the South Point shuttle from the airport. I know they had to call and schedule it.

It was very hit or miss with uber. Seems 50/50 on hotels that maybe running a shuttle service or not.

Getting to and from the airport was rough on our end. Having a 6am flight out and pre-booking a uber seemed like it would work out great but the uber ended up taking other rides pushing our 410am pickup past 445am and we had to scramble to find a cab that happened to be dropping someone off.

Even at that time in the morning there were about 30 people in the uber pickup area of the hotel waiting for a ride and another 10 or so upfront.

We had no issues with restaurants or other places just a matter of getting around that was slow. Bowling the Bowlers Journal at 10am was zero issues getting to and from but afterwards going to lunch then to South Point it was noticeable tougher for uber to keep up.

Was Lyft also having issues meeting demand for rides?

Yes. We tried using both to get around and had the same issues.

Just got back from Nationals and I didn't have any issues with using Uber.  I got one at the airport going to South Point (4 minute wait) and returning to the airport 4 days later (5 minute wait).

Maybe I got lucky with my Uber requests, but the only issue I heard about was an hour wait time for a trip to Fremont St from South Point, but I chalked that up to time of night...early evening.

Are there still huge wait times to get Uber and Shuttles now that Vegas is 100% open again as of June 1st?

There might be, because some may need to get rehired again or come back from furlough.

One thing that is going to come up are a lack of rooms. Most of the hotels on Las Vegas Blvd. are open, with exception of those owned by Boyd Gaming, and those owned by Fiesta.

That means Main Street Station, Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta on Rancho, and Texas Station. The Palms is not opening; it is going to be sold to the one of the Native tribes, so there's no need to open it.

So keep that in mind for where you're wanting to stay. If you aren't staying at South Point and don't want to deal with the major tourist trap, Green Valley Ranch, Redrock, or Sunset Station may be good options, as with I-215 being there for all of them, drive times are not bad at all.

Bowled June 1-2, stayed at south point, shuttles are on a regular schedule and were easy for airport to south point.

Users were available all week with normal wait times, but goodness, extremely expensive compared to what I am used to in years past.

I'll have a tournament write up post in a couple days when I get time to compile my notes into something, but short of it was had 1876 AE, and felt they were a little softer than previous years, without being easy.
