Just glorious!!!!
« on: May 11, 2009, 01:50:26 AM »
Just had some friends and fellow league bowlers come back from Vegas.  Oh, how I loved the recaps and complaining!!!

"I must've chopped the 3-6-10 about 8 or 9 times in team event"
"I couldn't make a 4-pin or 7-pin to save my life"
"I hate having to go hard and straight at spares"
"I couldn't stand it...I only had 2 boards to shoot at and you had to release it with the same rotation and same break point or else you won't carry"

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!  Yes, some of these guys are good friends, but the sprayers n' prayers were forewarned by yours truly that 15 boards of area only exists on the cake league shot.

And to me the best story coming back was our 236+ STAND LEFT-THROW RIGHT league guy who I overheard a couple of weeks ago saying, "I love this league!!" after collecting his third pot game of the night.........well, he didn't break 490 in any set.

I'm not usually the guy who laughs at others' misfortunes, but when it is the FIGJAM University alumni coming back shaking their heads, I can't help but smile a little bit!!

I find amusement in both your post and hearing these same things after some make their trip out there.  I can almost here your friends now.  The trip out can bring the best spray and pray bowlers to their knees and crying like an infant.  You need to go into the event with an open mind and not expect to bowl as good as you do at home in your comfort zone.  We had one of our house guys go out in March with his 220+ and return home in the fetal position after shooting his high set of 475.  Now on the other hand we do have some good house bowlers that were able to make the adjustment to a tough shot and throw well above what they do on a normal house shot.

At least you had advanced cry babies.  Most of the normal spray and prayers couldn't recognize axis rotation, consistent speed/rev rate, or break point if their life depended on it.

Not to hijack this, but I will, lol. This comment is so true. It happened to me in our scratch league. One night recetly, during the first game, I threw the ball so bad. Yet, since we were on a THS, the ball kept rolling back into the pocket and striking. As I come back shaking my head cause I knew I mised my mark, or I missed my breakpoint, or I missed my release, I just kept getting congratulations from one person on the other team. I wound up shooting 290 that game, and after we finished the night he kept talking about what a great game I threw the first game (didn't mention the 189 I threw right after it,lol). Even after I tried to tell him it wasn't and why, he wouldn't hear it, just kept going on about it. This statement reminds me of him so much.

I love listening to the crying of the house hacks on tough shots.

we went to sectionals at a different house, and i was the ONLY PERSON on my team to shoot average, i was at 183 because i had a horrible season, and shot 596. nobody else hit 500. I am really really hating house shot anymore because im not good on it because i dont rev it a LOT but i will take anyone on sport shot and see who wins.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

Like others, I do find humor in those who can't repeat a shot to save their lives, then blame the "impossible" conditions.

Although I've never been satisfied with my results at Nationals, I LOVE to keep trying.

What do you call the difference between a sport and a game?

It's very simple:  League bowling is the equivalent of bowling on a football field.

Bowling Nationals is the equivalent of bowling in a phone booth

Take it from one who knows!

Well I remember that night, and I was on the other team, but not the person you are referring to (at least I hope not).  If I remember correctly the stone 8 that you left in the first frame was nice!  I did get 1 point that night!
