had 1 good set
« on: May 10, 2010, 02:57:27 PM »
Bowled the 1st and 2nd of May, had a very bad Team event, 8 opens, was getting frustrated.
Left my aggressive equipment in the car for singles/doubles ( bowling the 11:30 PM squad I had a better idea) bowled better in doubles/singles but after leaving nationals we were in 6th place for Doubles ( 7th now) threw my Orange/Yellow Jazz and it was plenty of ball for doubles, and way too much in Singles.
In Doubles I was in about 23-13 never got the ball outside of 10 ( 707 1441);
In Singles it was a tighter line 19-16 with a lot of speed, ball was checking up at the dots, lofting the ball past the dots was not the answer.
People having been saying that the gutter was in play, but for me and the squads I bowled it was not there.
For those of you still waiting to go, good luck and don't be afraid to go to the so called weaker equipment.

Thanks for posting Dale. Just curious, what ball do you feel you should have thrown for team event and which one did you throw?

I can only take 5 balls and I am trying to decide if I should even take my Perfect Rival, Bounty Hunter and 930T.

Thanks again!

Just to let all of you know, this is what DW pm's me with:  I will address you directly. Since you posted something so stupid you have to be a kid. Adults don't waste there time with stupid SH** like that. Find some video games to play and stay out of adult conversations.

DW, to address you again.  You are most likely a house hack with an arsenal that will not match up at nationals.  I put your over / under number at 1562 for all events and I am taking the under.  Asking justdale what he should have thrown in team will do nothing for you......He most like throws it much different than you and rev rates / pap's / axis tilt will be different so asking a guy what ball he should have thrown in team event will get you nothing you donk.  Save your money, withdraw from nat's and go bowl a local association handicap tourney, you rube.

Well for Team i was throwing the Full Swing, and the Total Bedlam, both were to aggressive, looking back I probably should've thrown the Freeze, or the Sharp NoiZe.
As for the other events, the Jazz at 11:30 at night was the right choice

This is what this site has become. Half bowlers that want to help each other and advance the sport and half ignorant people that have nothing else to do but make ignorant, immature comments. I won't make the mistake of addressing these children in the future.

I already have an idea of what I am going to take since I bowl on sport conditions in different houses in the area often . I am the kind of person that gets as much info as possible and then makes an informed decision. I have cashed in all but 1 of the 6 years I have gone to nationals but cashing is not the goal for me. I am bowling with other regional players and ball company staff guys and we want to do well as a team. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks for the info Dale. I bowl at 11:30pm as well. Will definitely be watching who we follow on the pair for D/S. I will also be prepared to ball down from balls I have used in previous team events.

The basic game plan is:
- something w/surface at the beggining of team
- probably can end up with your benchmark ball in the same area the last game or 2
- for s/d you need something that gets through the heads very cleanly but has enough pop on the back end to carry and get LEFT. If you're right of 20 at the arrows, chances are that you are too far right.

The basic game plan for who????

Riggs posted in his blog, and here maybe, that he threw an Invasion for all 9 games, so did others on his team. I have shot very well in D/S with my mark right of 20 at the arrows. Last year I shot 1866 A/E and never got to 20 at the arrows. This maybe a basic game plan for you, but it is not gospel and will not work for a lot of bowlers.

I hope you follow this game plan and you shoot very very well. But it is not correct to post it like this will work for everyone, or that everyone should even consider this gameplan.

My teammate Gail Myers Jr. used his INVASIONs for all 9 games.

To clarify, what I''ve said/posted is that I SHOULD have used mine all 9 games. Did all 3 of team and all 3 of singles, started with it in doubles and got away from it trying to strike -- that led to a trainwreck 530 that probably would have been a small 600 if I''d stuck with it.  But we go to nationals trying to win not shoot small 600s ... just a terrible cross this year and no reaction ... certainly not enough hook to get left of 20!

Watching webcasts of others has made me very jealous this year!

I had a hard time in singles with carry, the fronts were just torched. I had 581 with 12 ten's and 2 stone eight's. It's hard to complain about my cross when your teamate shoots 833. I needed something much weaker like my avalanche pearl.

Ok I''''ll rephrase for people that have there panties in a complete wad. This was the game plan for me and people I know that have gone and bowled well. Of course it wont be the same for people who throw back up balls and throw the ball 27 miles per hour, but there is basic game plans for different conditions. Cheetah pattern plays OUTSIDE of 5 <--Basic gameplan. Jorge you didnt happen to shoot 760+ in singles and 2000 AE also, did you?

Dude, it appears it is you who has their panties in a bunch. I just pointed out that this isn't a gameplan for everyone, it is your game plan. I haven't bowled yet so no I haven't shot that. If you did, congrats, I am glad for you. Doesn't change that fact that your post was wrong. Riggs has posted and shown that you don't need to follow your "gameplan" to score well. Let me give you some advice.....there are plenty of decaffeinated brands out there that taste as good as the real thing.

I reccomend watching the video of Bo, Dan, and thems team who are leading team AE right now. They played the lanes very well(obviously). There are multiple ways to play many lane conditions but the key to bowling is to play the lanes where you have the most margin for error. If you think that playing right of 20 is the key to that then good luck. Be sure to post your killer AE score when you get back, Jorge.

I see you''ve failed to take my advice, too bad, cause it is true. And if my AE score is less then yours, so what? And if it more then yours, again so what? As you said, there are multiple ways to play the lanes. I was just pointing out that your plan isn''t the end all be all. If your ego is so fragile that you have to attack me for that, then I guess that is your problem, not mine.

on edit: Brian, again not sure where all this attitude is coming from, but let me add this as well. The lanes will dictate where to play them. If you followed Riggs'' team for D/S, after they worked the lanes open in the 7-8-9 board range, it wouldn''t be a smart idea to play 20 at the arrows, you would want to be further right and using what they burnt up for you. In some cases being left of 20 is the proper way to play the lanes. But to say it is a the way to do it, isn''t correct. You are probably a very good bowler, and I am sure this works for you, but it just doesn''t for everyone.

I just got back today and my opinion on the lanes for singles and doubles are if your on fresh as I was, 7-8-9 area will work as it did for me in singles. I am not a big hand player, but found out you DONT need alot of surface. I had my pin down Invasion taken down to 2000 as someone suggested and it over hooked or burnt up.

I had Shawn in the Hammer booth take it to 4000 over 4000 and it worked well for my old body. It gave me an area and I shot my first 600 set in nationals.
