Title: Any problems at nationals?
Post by: C-G ProShop-Carl on June 22, 2005, 01:43:32 PM
When I bowled nationals in Feb there was a scoring error. The guy absolutely refused to change the score. He said that in all of his years around nationals he never saw an error in the scoring system.
It was off of a strike, and it gave me an open when it should have been a spare. It was in the doubles squad, where my partner and I had 1196. By the end that many pins could end up moving us up 4-5 positions or more!

I let it go, but clearly there was a problem. Has anyone else had an issue like this happen to them while bowling nationals?

We had one last year. It was more a "rule" issue than a score issue, but the official REFUSED to follow the rules.
What I found really upsetting - it took my hubby 15 minutes TO FIND A RULE BOOK AT ABC!!!

mumzie,

I am not a difficult person to get along with. I am nice to everyone. I was nice when I approached them about the score change. When the guy said "In all my years around the nationals I have never seen an error in the scoring system", my response was "Never? You never saw an issue with the score?". He replied "No.". I said "Thats funny, because this is my second year at nationals and I have already seen it happen, it happened today.".

I think what bothered me the most is that they could have consulted the videos later and seen that it mis scored. They could have informed me by mail if they were or were not going to change it. It gave me an open in the 9th frame. I struck out in the 10th, so it had a huge affect on my game.

No, it only did it once.

There were 5 witnesses, and their voices didn't matter either.

When I bowled Nationals in Billings I had a total of FIVE scoring errors in six games.  The staff were really nice about it, made the changes because of the witnesses on my pair(s), and I got little score correction sheets signed by both me and the scorekeeper as proof that changes were made and we agreed on them.

I can't believe that guy!  I would have tied his shoelaces together when he wasn't looking

I had a score change this year.  When I turned around I left the 1, 3, and 9.  The score showed I had a strike.  I asked my teammates and they said they didn't know what happened.  They said I left those pins.  I had the pins reset.  Of course, I missed the spare.  I thought the lanes were tougher in Baton Rouge then at Reno.

I just got back this morning from my first abc. The main thing I noticed was they were on such a time schedule. I mean you had only this amount of time to bowl and if you weren't finished by that time, tuffffffffff.

We bowled doubles and singles without taking so much as a water break. I asked my doubles partner to take his time so I could change my new thumb system insert.

We did stay within the time limit, but I feel everyone was rushed. I don't take a lot of time to get set, but would like more time to think about the last shot a bit.
