It is a lot more about how to attack the pattern than it is equipment.

So far, looks to me like the experienced folks (from what I can tell) are taking something that can burn a line in the pattern and a couple others to play with once the lanes are 'prepared'. It also looks like stonger balls are preferred.

Nationals rookies like me are (or were) looking at bringing a wider range of equipment. I was thinking Resurgence, Striking Motion, TX1, Purple Vibe.

Am I learning the lesson correctly thus far?

Right now I am looking at

TR2
SR2
QZ1
(either GT1 or TX1)

Probably going to leave the SX1 at home.

Obviously, things may change based on what the early reports are out there. However, if I had to make the decision right now, I''d go with this:

Virtual Gravity (2000 dull)
Onyx Vibe (1000 or 2000 dull)
HyRoad (2000 dull)
Onyx Vibe (Box)
Natural (Box or maybe with some polish)
Spare ball

Not really sure have not bowled on the pattern or heard any feedback since the tournament has not started yet. Seems kind of silly to pick an arsenal with no info.

I usually grab three pieces that feel real good off my hand. Also, taking six or seven pieces doesn't make much sense to me. Lot of stuff to drag around. In '06 I only took two balls and had my best year (792 in doubles)

Seems to me the trip is less aggravating and I have been only taking three ever since.

I guess the OP might consider whether side events are part of the trip.  They might require different equipment or layouts depending which event is being bowled.

im sure there are plenty of side tournaments going on throughout all the months of nationals.  I know we are planning on trying to bowl in atleast one other tournament while were out there.

The BTM and the BJ are probably two that will be there.  I wonder if they will have an Ebonite challenge like that did in Vegas.
