USBC National Tournament weigh in
« on: February 18, 2010, 09:22:48 AM »
If when weighing in your equipment they find it not legal do to static weights do you have a choice of just not using it?  From what I have heard it sounds like they will just pop a hole in it where ever they feel like to make the ball legal.

What is the process ??
--------------------
18 mph,350 rpm,PAP 5 1/2 x 3/8up, 15 deg axis tilt, varied rotational axis deg.. usually 45+
HighGame 300 x 4, High Series 808
Book Average 205,PBA Xperience 185
375 RPM, 17-18 MPH, 45+ DEG AXIS ROTATION, 17 DEG TILT

Of course you can choose not to use it. You won't be able to enter the "staging area" with your balls unless they pass the scale area, so you can just leave it behind. Some people opt to have their pro shop operator put the weight hole in it, or they can do it right there. They will typically talk to you, and explain how big and where they are going to place the hole.

Or you can go to your pro shop before you leave and have your equipment Dbl checked. I do this every Year And my pro shop operator reminds me to do this every year.

I had a ball that was 1/4 oz off in finger weight in Las Vegas last May. They gave me my choice on how to handle it. They had a drill press right there so I just let them correct it on the spot.

You can also take it out to the booths to have the hole drilled.

I won't drill anything that has ending statics of 3/4 oz for this reason.  I figure if it's that far off, it will be easy to prove that the ball is ok.

make em put it on the do-do prior to drilling that hole, the electronic scale is nice, but if the operator has the ball shifted you are screwed, plus I always mark grip center on my stuff, it helps them when lining it up on the electronic scale, ive had balls fail at the electronid, but pass the do-do

That happened to my brother last year...on a ball that had passed the last several years.

In Las Vegas they did weigh it on the triple beam scale, not just the electronic scale. The electronic scale was a different operator as well.
