Title: Baton Rouge Hotels
Post by: mrteach3 on November 20, 2011, 01:11:43 AM
Anyone have some insight on the hotels for Baton Rouge.  I found a couple which are right next to the River Center, but didn't know what else was within walking distance to the River Center.  Thanks in advance.

Who needs a 300 or 800, when I have a 294 and a 295!?!?!

Stayed at the Belle of Baton Rouge last time.  Price was reasonable.  It ain't worth the $139.00 per night they are now asking.

Thanks Bill.  That was the same thing I was thinking.  I just have a tough time paying that much for a hotel.  Maybe I can check one of the website like expedia or something to get the price lower.

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza a couple of times. Hotel was nice and price was reasonable.

I have found better prices than mytravel is offering by going direct to web sites for some of the hotels they offer for the USBC in Baton Rouge.

The Belle is nice, but this year we are staying at Chase Suites. Its a few miles away, but cant beat the price for a two floor suite that my whole family can stay in for 199 a night.

Hope you find something nice.

We are staying at the SpringHill Suites by Marriot near LSU, about 5-6 miles away.

$89.00 per night.

Hopefully, once the tournament gets started, people will come on here and give some reviews of where they stayed..

Is this years venue (River Front Center) the same place we used when last in Baton Rouge?? I could have sworn we stayed at the Crowne Plaza last time and walked over to the bowling center. But according to the map, the Crowne is over three miles from this years center. Am I confused or did they move things??

Thanks for any help!

Yes, it is the same convention center. The facility next door is the Belle of Baton Rouge -- casino & hotel.

I've used USBC travel twice in the last 20 years of tournaments and both times were a disaster. Ever since, I always found better and/or very competitive rates by booking direct. Also, I tend to stay at Marriott properties to add points. This year, for the first time ever, mybowlingvacation seems to be significantly cheaper ($30-70) per night than the Marriott web site. I've never seen that. I REALLY don't want to use mybowlingvacation.com if I can avoid it. Just curious, Is anyone seeing the same price difference with other brands?

Three of us are sharing a 2 room suite at the Drury Inn & suites. About 7 miles down the road from the River Center. $150.00 per night after tax. @ queens and a pull out couch. 2 couples from our group have a 2 room suite at the Belle for about the same amount. The Drury has hot breakfast for free and free hot snacks each evening. They had a good rating at Hotels.com. Drury sent us an email offering the 3rd night (a Sunday) for $49.99 which would be nice but we're on the road right after dbls/sgls.

If there is a Dury Inn where I'm at when traveling, I always stay there. Nice rooms, free breakfast, and free drinks during happy hour!

That $79 claim must be for a group rate. I just went to the website and was quoted $109 as the lowest rate.

Lefty,

I found the exact same thing as you. I'm not a paid endorser either.....but mybowlingvacations.com saved me almost $50/night at the Crowne Plaza....from the rate quoted directly from the CP website. Booked my room immediately.

Belive it or not, some hotels charge more for weekends than weekday, even for special events.  Happened to me in Reno last year.

This may help out everyone.

I ended up booking at the Microtel (#38), east of downtown & it's near the 40 Frame Game.

Just Pricelined the Courtyard by the Acadian Center for 55/night and about 260 overall for the 4 nights. Can't beat that deal...

Changed my travel arrangments recently since I am not going to drive and found an excellent deal on mybowlingvacation.com for my wife and I.  $1004.00 grand total for both of us, round trip air from Albuquerque, NM to Baton Rouge on American Airlines with one stop in Dallas each way and 4 night at The Crown Plaza nearest the River Center(also includes free breakfast buffet each morning).  No rental car, since my friends are driving down and we are all staying at the same hotel.

Mybowlingvacation.com beat all the online places (expedia, priceline, cheaptickets.com, orbitz and a few others) by an average of $300-$350 at the time I booked my trip.

I just booked the Ramada Inn (10045 Gwendale) 6 miles from downtown for $55.00/night on Hotels.com.  Reviews were favorable and I stayed in the same vicinity last time and was fairly happy with it.  It is off of I-12 and Airline.  With taxes and everything for 4 nights, I am paying $255.00 and that is with no rewards points or anything.

I pricelined the Radisson for $59a night for 5 nights. No different for weekends. Free parking and free Internet. About 4-5 miles away around all the other hotels on I-10. Newly remodeled.
