Suggestion for High rev players at Nationals
« on: May 27, 2006, 02:02:00 PM »
I am a high rev bowler with a my fair share of speed,  17-18 mostly upper 18 mph.  I watched the squads before mine.  Came up with a thought, so I acted on that thought.  I drilled a low end ball (the new black color Scout Reactive). Wet sanded it to 1200, pin over ring finger, cg kicked out just a hair.  Originally I was going to use the ball to burn a track into the pattern, and not have a lot of over reaction on the lanes.  Well, first 5 balls in practice, dead flush.  Wow, I think we found something.  Ended up throwing the first 4 or 5 as well.  I believe that the pattern out there will cause problems with those blessed with hand and speed.  Being a three piece ball, its not going to over hit, and the cover will not let you throw it thru the break point.  Also the cover will not make it jump on the back, just roll up very nicely.  Used the Scout Reactive for all three sets, shot 1750 not too bad, but not bad at all for an 80 dollar three piece ball.

So for you crankers out there, maybe you can expand on my thoughts.  Have a little heads up out there.  Watch the team shifts in front of you.  Hope you guys bowl well out there.

John

Ps.  For those people that have messaged me. I will be back in my home town tomorrow.  I will respond to you guys.

Axe,
Did you try anything outside, like straight up 5? I have heard that there is good shot out there even for those with a little more hand and speed. I fall into that category as well, average between 18-19 mph, with pretty good revs. My idea is to sand my Big One and try outside to start, if that doesn't work I will have either a regular One or a Magnum 44 in box cover ( haven't decided which one to buy yet) and then an Energy drilled to go long and snap (Pin about 5' away from PAP, puts it over my middle finger) polished. Thanks for the tip though, something to keep in mind.
