hate to ask but...
« on: April 06, 2010, 08:25:33 PM »
I will be takeing 3 bowling balls and have narrowed 2 of them down to a C-System 3.5 and the Storm Natural. The other I am not sure about and looking for a little advice. Either the Copperhead,Rattler, or the C-System 2.5 . Any help would be appreciated.

Personally i would take the copperhead. it will fill a big hole you have between the 3.5 and the natural. Also be aware of what drillings you have on all the balls. This can make a big difference in ball selection. Both the copperhead and the rattler should fit where you need them, but the copperhead should be smoother. (also depending on how the two are drilled)

as troj said there is a huge gap between your 3.5 and Natural.  I would say bring the ball that allows you to play the middle part of the lane.  If you watch some of the video on Bowl.com of where people are playing in minors you will need something that will retain some energy to play a deeper line.  So I would say either your 2.5 or Rattler.  Good luck.

I wouldn't bother taking the natural you will never see enough friction to use it effectively. I would take the 3.5 with some surface, Copperhead 2000-4000 and 2.5 with some shine.

I took the Natural with me.  Never even thought about taking it out of the bag.  If you bowl the 40 Framer, you might be able to use the Natural.

Swinging the ball during the team event will be difficult unless your team breaks down the lane as a team.  I watched Bowlers Edge Pro shop 2 (I think thats their team name) shoot a 3404 in team Friday night doing this.  All five bowlers was playing close to the same line and by the 3rd game they were swinging the ball pretty good and shot about a 1250, anchor shot 297.

Swinging the ball for singles and doubles is a pretty good shot if there was a team on the lanes before your squad.  We had a team on the pair we started our doubles on just before us and the lane we switched to singles for, did not have a team on them before we bowled.  Scores were good on the first three but when we moved to the singles lanes, its was so different we all struggled. No room for era.  On the doubles pair, we had swing and area.

Good luck and good bowling.

I would take PLASTIC.  You will use it far more than any of the others..  I dont care if you can "flatten it out" so I don't need a spare ball..  Better to just not take the chance.

My spare ball was the Natural.  Worked very good for spares at the Nats and BTM.  It's probably not necessary since you are bringing only three balls unless you play straght up 12 or 13 and then you might have a chance with it.

The Natural gave me a great look during minors, but I bowl two-handed (rev rate around 430-450). If your rev rate is around 265 as posted, I'm guessing you'd only get use out of it as a spare ball. If you have either a very mild reactive (Hammer Razyr, AMF Hype, etc.) or the ability to flatten your wrist and go straight at spares, I'd consider something stronger in lieu of the Natural.

I agree about the natural.  I used it today at the local lanes on a pair of lanes that were oiled twice with the national pattern and the ball rolled up very smooth except it was speed sensitive.  Just a touch quick and flat 7 or a bucket.  I haven't tried it with any surface except oob.

Thanks everyone, you gave me some good feedback. Better than I had hoped. Will not be taking the Natural now.
