USBC Women's open in Reno...
« on: May 19, 2009, 01:56:17 AM »
Has any of the female bowlers on this site bowl there yet? My girlfriend and I are going up there next month for her to bowl and was curious about how the oil pattern was. Is it different then nationals??

Thanks!

The one year I went it was in Reno a few years back.  The shot was similar to USBC Nationals.  With one exception......all the plastic balls.  I subbed for my mother in law and was on a pair where out of 10 bowlers I had the only reactive equipment.  The plastic balls down the middle and all over the place, made the pattern miserable.

Also tell her to be very very careful where she steps.  Apparently Ladies Natioals allows beverages in the bowler area and the counters are packed with them.  Dripping and condensation from all the drinks caused several falls on our pair and around us.

I won't bowl Ladies Nationals again.  Too unprofessional for me.  I'll stick with ABC/USBC Nationals.

Erin,

Ok thanks for the info. I'll have a t-road solid drilled up for her and it should be fine. I'll also warn her about the other hazzards.

Thanks!

Did you also get to do the Macarena in the paddock before walking down the center aisle to bowl? I haven't bowled it since that incident

I don't bowl the Womens tournament either.
For much the same reasons as above.

Also - too many divisions, not enough $$ in the prize fund.

A friend of mine WON classic doubles a few years ago. I think her half of the take was around $450.

No we had some lame cheer state by state for attendance.  "Alabama.....Yeah!!!", "Arkansas....Yeah!!!".......Reminded me of something you'd do at a GirlScout camping trip.  Ridiculous.

When the pins and badges started flying off into the gutters from hats and vests I knew I was done.

The best part was when I got home I wrote a letter to USBC expressing my disappointment in the tournament.  I was told (by a male who was the tournament manager) that I was being too harsh in my expectations.

Its the NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!!  You are supposed to be held to a higher standard.
