Title: Golfing recommendations in Reno area
Post by: MikeCanMan on June 11, 2010, 06:01:19 AM
Heading out to Nationals in 3 weeks. Looking for recommendations on good golf tracks. We play 2 sometimes 3 rounds while at the tourney. Thank you!

Thanks Chris...that's exactly the course I was looking at. If you don't mind, please post after playing and let me know if its worth the $$. I will pay if its worth it.
Play well and tear up the lanes!

It's been windy in Reno lately. I was there last weekend and played Wildcreek in the afternoon. Winds were 20-25 MPH with gusts above that.
Lakeridge is very nice. The signature hole is a par 3 with an island green. The tees are about 80 feet above.

The winds must be common this time of year. When we were there last time, the winds blew so strong that none of my group could keep a hat on our heads! Played D'Andrea that time. Hoping to find something different this time around.

It's always windy in Reno. Quite often, prevailing wind is about 20 MPH.

We played RedHawk Thursday (6/10).  Very windy and cool made scoring tough. Well played shots hit middle of greens and ran off the back into high rough or beaches.  Nice layout, lots of sand, I was in sand on 11 holes.  Pretty good deal, too.  $55, included rental clubs for USBC participants.

Have played Lakeridge, DAndrea, Wildcreek, Incline Village and Northgate.  Northgate was great in 1995, a dump in 2004 because the city cut back on watering.

Lakeridge is close in, a nice little track, some woods so wind isn't as significant.  DAndrea was my favorite, but the winds can be brutal.

TEX....
Good stuff. I too like Dandrea...but I'm looking for something new. Red Hawk sounds like a nice challenge. Appreciate the feedback...thank you!

We just got back from Reno. I didn't play this year, but a bunch of my group did. Wind were gusting the 40-50 MPH early last week, made playing tough. Lakeridge is offering a deal of $50 inlcuding club rentals to USBC members, I know that is one place they played. Said it was a good course. I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices though.

Looks like Arrowcreek might be in our sights. Anyone play there this year? Are they offering a special deal for USBC bowlers? Thanks everyone for your input. We're doing the tri-fecta: Coyote Moon, Lakeridge and Arrowcreek(if I get some positive feedback here).
