how are patterns playing?
« on: March 17, 2016, 10:40:03 PM »
Just wanted to get any opinions on how the patterns are playing this year.  Similar as expected from pattern sheets, different, any surprises? Starting to think about what equipment I may want to bring.

Skizzle,
Take the round ones and you'll do fine. I hear you lost some dead weight off your team this year....so maybe you'll actually cash now!  :P

Shot 1741 AE out there because I had some spare game yips and never strung anystrikes.

Surface and attacking from the outside give me a look that should have scored except I can't execute to save my life.

I used a pin up 3000 grit Covert Revolt that has lane shined from quite a few games and a Venom Shock, never got deeper than 16 at the arrows and for both team and S/D I was targeting 8 at the breakpoint.

Watched some really high speed power players toss really strong stuff (scandals etc) up 8 and inch in and bowl extremely well out there when I was there.

Shot's playable, very similar to last year, just takes a lot of execution. I would note that it seemed to play longer than you would expect out of patterns that length, but that's just my house bum assessment.

So Jorge, you are suggesting I leave the Barny Rubble ball at home this year?  As far as the team goes, most of us are dead weight!

I know 2 different people who went already, both very accomplished bowlers
1 likes to get in and turn it, the other is much more straight up the boards

the guy who turns it said they were dry in team
the other guy said they were tight, had to use stronger pieces and surface

1 shot 1850ish, the other 1960ish

So i think it all depends on your style and your team mates
be prepared to make good shots, make your spares and have some equipment choices
I suggest booking the practice session to see if your surface choices are useable
