Another expierence...
« on: March 18, 2012, 03:35:42 AM »

Bowled march 13th 2:30 squad. Sitting in the backroom i realized we were bowling unopposed. We were on lane 4 by ourselves. I bowl with a team that doesn't work together. We bowl to have fun together. Cause we meet once a year to bowl together.

During practice i was rolling my Nexxus, and first shot out of the gate took the 4,7,8, i tried to keep everything right of 5 in practice. And i saw what everybody had talked about except for the OOB. I had no out of bounds.

I balled down to my Big Block Hammer. That thing was snapping off the end of the pattern. Balled down to a shiny Mutant cell. Ball went dead straight. I couldn't get it to move. It looked like plastic.

So the lights come on and i go 158 first game, 10 pins were killing me, Ball was hanging on my thumb. I will blame that on the aproaches. I couldn't stay down at the line. I missed 4 ten pins. I tried to stay out on the lane and use weaker equipment. 6th frame first game i am tired, i needed to try something else. I took out the Nexxus and moved 10 left with my feet and 8 with my target and shot 211, 199. I missed 7 ten pins, a 3-10, and a 3-9-10. Dam ball hanging on my thumb killed me. I put 500 in brackets got 475 back.

Doubles/singles- 11:40

I was confident after watching the set before mine on where to start on the lanes.

I started with my Shiny mutant cell about 20-7 and i was swishing the pocket and couldn't kick out the 7 one frame, or the 10 the next. I shot 157 first game... Then went 212,212. I didn't move just a little hand possition change. I put 200 in brackets and got 20 back.

Singles is where my wheels came off. I was tricked... I watched the set before me had some older guys playing straight up the boards with little recovery. And the guys that finished on my doubles pair were a little deeper but not during there doubles set so i thought i might be good to start where i finished doubles... Wrong. Ball was turning at my feet. I swear i could hear it squeeking as it hit the dry.

I shot the worst series i have ever bowled at nats. Probably lower than i have shot since juniors. Usually i can grind out a 5.

115 first game with 7 splits. It didn't get any better. I shot a 395 in singles. Yes thats for 3 games.

We always bowl 11:40 D/S, and i have nevr seen the burn like it was this week.

I was OK with it as i realize it wasn't me because i was rolling the ball well. Felt better in singles than i did in team. I worked out my approach issues with the ball hanging on my thumb. But i had no shot.

Obviously you were not listening to your ball...

I was curious if 11:40 minors would be a challenge this year due to burn. We bowled Mar. 9-10. When we finished 9:20am minors my doubles partner who has above average revs and slightly below average speed was 25-30 out to 9-10 and he shot 628 in singles. I'm average revs and slightly speed dominant and at the end I was 20-25 out to 9-10 and shot 530, I didn't move left as fast as I should've the last game and shot 150 getting into trouble early that game and got lined up too late.

Thanks for posting this, because it confirms now that I need to take a very weak ball with me just in case. My group is also bowling on the burn for minors.

I don't think it's a bad idea to take a weak ball. But the interesting thing for me is I couldn't ball down, at least not to a pearl ball. I threw a pearl for 5 frames drilled identical to a hybrid and solid I have and while it was OK it didn't give me the best look. I had to stay with the hybrid or solid to get the best reaction, same with my doubles partner. So we had to chase it in to keep a decent look on the lanes. This doesn't mean it can't be done, it just didn't work for us.
