Just got back
« on: February 24, 2004, 06:00:52 AM »
Hello all just got back from Reno tonight. Start with the shot. I think there will be a lot of high scores shot. For team event we bowled the 2:30 team shift. The oil pattern started out tight and was that way for about the first game during the second game they slowly started to open up in the third game it was pretty nice. Sounds like usuall 10 and out was O.B. if you pulled the ball a few boards it crossed over. Doubles and Singles was at 9:20 in the morning. For doubles it was a little tight to start off with did open up pretty fast though. By the time singles came around had to get really deep or move back out with a weaker ball. Ok now I know you are probably wondering where I was playing. Started team out 18-12 using my Carbide/C Pearl with a lot of hand in it slowly started to take the hand out and moved in deeper end of team I would say 25-12. Doubles was about the same at the end of Singles I pulled out my Scream R and went 15-10. It is a tight shot but very playable. A few different casinos have comp shirts. The Atlantis has one however you have to sign up for their players card, and the GOlden Pheonix has one that you can get with out signing up for anything. Lots of other great deals there as well. If you want a great burger and fries go to the Golden Nugget and go the back to the kitchen back there. Before I forget shot 1749 all events not bad however I will take it. Did not go and do the 40 framer or anything else. Those are at the AMF Starlite Lanes sorry don't know address or anything. Hope this helps a little for you all. Good luck to all that are going.

Thanks sdbowler.  As I was reading this I was thinking wow I mean not everyone would be that willing to just jump on here and tell how everything went give big details on the shot and everything else.  Thanks.  I will be leaving next Wednesday.  I plan on taking the laptop so I will be updating everyone as to what I see.  I am pretty stuffy about taking notes so maybe I can help a few also.

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.

It's a 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

That is good info Rags.  From looking at the chart I would not have thought heavy oil.  I probably wouldn't have though the out of bounds to have been that big either.

That is correct with the Twister pins. This was my first time on them. Light hits carried well. If you hit the pocket nice and solid you would get some ugly split, or anything in the back row or if you are LUCKY you would carry. It was a really fun shot to throw on. To me it was something that you had to be exact everytime. I am an area player versus an exact board player so that caused some problems for me. All in all it was a fun shot though. Like I said earlier I am looking for a lot of high scores to be put up. I just simply pushed the ball out a few times to many or pulled it in a few to many times.

I also read the graphs and while you are correct that the ratio from 20-2 is higher (3.29 : 1), the ratio from 20-5 is more like 2.5+ : 1. You can take a shot outside 5 if you want, but caveat emptor as usual. I'll defer to the bowlers who have been there already but if you can control your bal speed, you still have options. I, for one, have never been a 5-6th arrow guy but can slam it hard up 11-12 and control the backend with speed.
