Just got home...
« on: March 13, 2008, 04:46:33 PM »
Just read another thread somewhere else that got down on a guy for wanting info on the pattern. I read one of Riggs threads and decided to post what i saw.

Now i have more speed than i need and probably more RPM's also, but i have been working on that.
I went in with no expectations, i dissapointed my self last year.
I started with the Roto challenge and i felt i had the nuts, i was rolling the ball 15 to 10 and was smashing the pocket in practice, had 8 in a row not that it counted. But i was bowling by myself and found i was winded and really couldn't catch my breath, and i am in pretty good shape. Scorers turned on and out came the splits, i strated pinching the ball a little. But i worked it out to shoot 190 first game and a 213 second game. I made a little money there, pretty fun side even right there next to the main event.
The guy i talked to said that the tourney shot hooks less than the roto shot. So i filed that away in my head.

Starting team i was piping it up ten a little to much speed. I could get it to the pocket but i couldn't carry. 5 7 pins in the first game plus a half pocket 7-10. for a measley 168, oh i was happy... I slowed down and moved left a little to get my breakpoint closer to the hole, but more 7 pins...4 in the second game... shot 193 only had 1 open in that game... Felt better going into the last game but out came the splits, it was my fault i was trying to get it to finish a little harder but i just couldn't get the ball to face the pocket, i knew from the start i wasnt goint to get the angle i wanted, i lost all confidence from the sport shot challenge. Shot a whopping 515 in team, but i only lost 15 bucks in brackets... I won 7 brackets with a 154 3rd game...

Doubles/Singles Had the pocket all day, but couldn't carry. We bowled 3rd shift. And i started at 15 and was at 25 by the time we were done. I felt i bowled alot better in doubles/singles, i was rolling the ball much better, but i was now leaving 4 pins. At one point i moved 5 boards left with my feet 2 at my target to get a little more belly in it and i left 4 4 pins in a row. I made a comment to my dad that if i kept it there eventually i would leave a 4-9 2 frames later guess what i moved 2 more boards left and you guessed it 4-9... I felt i could have bowled lights out, but i couldn't carry.

Good luck down there... Oh yeah, in team i was rolling a Scorchin Inferno, and a Big Block diesel. In minors i was using and Angular One.I don't need a spare ball, i only missed 1 single pin spare and that is because my ankle got in the way. Only opens i had were splits.Except... I left the 1-2-8 twice, had both picked up so i thought, ball crossed the head pin like it was going brooklin hit the 2 pin and deflected to the right of the 8... 2 times in doubles. I have no clue how this happens but it happened twice.

I guess my problem was really angle, i need to go back to work on trying to figure out how to fix it.
