Coaching with Mike Jasnau?
« on: February 28, 2014, 01:01:14 PM »
Anybody done it?

I have never had any formal coaching. I made a res. for a session on March 11th. We bowl team on the 12th.

Not looking for the magic just to figure out how to help when i start struggling. And maybe some pointers on how to fix my bad habits.

I have a session set up with him on March 15th. Looking forward to meeting him and getting some help! Hopefully he can also help me build an arsenal before I bowl nationals in June.

So what do you guys want to work on?

I get to nationals or on a tougher shot and i might get 1 good set. I have a problem squaring up and taking my hand out of the ball. And i saw exactly what they were talking about last year in minors. And i know it was me. When i had hook early i moved left, and i saw even more hook, i kept moving and saw even more hook. I made the wrong move but i didn't know it until it was to late.

I am just a house hack that catches fire every once in a while. But i would like to change that.

Coaching was great to see where I was and where I could improve. It did jack me up for the first game trying to incorporate the changes and not just doing my thing. I do occasionally watch the DVD and as part of my surgery recovery am now using his tips to improve on the back side of recovery. I do think working on lane play and minor points could be useful, but don't let it mess you up.

Thanks Tex, i am not sure it could mess me up anymore than i already am. I have been rolling the ball horribly the last 2 weeks. And i think it is all timing. I have 11 days to get it figured out.

Btw.. I did ok bowling Nats before lane 81, after coaching session, I was messed up! Lol went back to my old ways cause I struggled. Only when I returned from Reno did I worked on my game.

The video/DVD is really helpful and you could always go back to it anytime you need to.

I have been to several coaches over the years and still go to one every year here locally
Mike J. is by far, one of the best out there.
very calm, even keeled, highly intelligent, if you want to learn, he is the guy
I went to him 1 day before we bowled NATS and it did mess me up as well.

Me, just me, i have to have time to work on changes before im going to try it out on a tough patten, THS league, i still do it today. but for my sport shot league, i am working on my game constantly, but changes come during practice...and lots of it

I have done his full CATS, Video, and instruction package. He is a pretty good coach and works with your own style.  He doesn't try to re-invent your style just fixes the issues that he sees.  He will work within your skill level and not expect you to be able to do something a professional does.  He does some very good visual comparisons with other bowlers that may have a similar style. Don't expect a warm and fuzzy reception or something that feels completely personalized to you.  He seems like a "see a problem , fix a problem" type of guy, and he does it well.   He knows the nationals shot and knows what works.  If that is what you are looking for, he will let you know the best way to play the lanes and what equipment and surface to use for your style and skill level.

With the way my season has gone, I am considering signing up for a lesson.  How far in advance do people recommend making reservations? I will be in Reno May 15-18th.

I just made mine yesterday for the 11th of March. So 12 days in advance for me. He did say it is easier to get lessons during the week. That is odd to me since people are bowling every day.

I haven't taken a lesson from Mike since 1998 on my first trip to Reno. I am long overdue for another and will be signing up by purchasing the VIP package.

Shirt
Bowers Journal Entry
Lane 81 Session
$25 off each way on shipping
Locker Coverage

It is an awesome package and an easy way to tack add some value to your trip to Reno.
