Golf in BR
« on: May 03, 2012, 12:18:29 PM »
Our teams head out to bowl on Memorial Day weekend. Just checking to see if anyone has recommendations for one or two quality golf courses for us to play?

Thank you,
Mike

A teamate and I played the Bluffs & Copper Mill while we were there.  Both were great courses and weren't too expensive either.  Copper Mill had a bowlers special.  Was like $47 for 18 w/cart/range balls (& club rental if needed).  Nice course, front was straight foreward, but the back was noticeably tougher, & longer as well.   The Bluffs, is an Arnold Palmer design and I would say is a must play if you can.  Price was around $72, but we played the twilight after 3pm for around $44.  It was fairly tight, lots of undulation in the fairways & greens.. loong as well.  Very picture-esk holes along the front & back side made it both challenging and enjoyable.  Hope this helps..

Thank you for the info Sikxer. I believe I'm sold on both courses. We have plenty of time to play...so I will let my teammates know. Again, thanks for sharing the knowledge!

jgrip,
you seem to echo Sikxer on the Cooper Mill course. Sounds like just what we need. Thank you,
Mike

Copper Mill has a holiday tournament going on next weekend. So I'm curious if anyone has played the LSU course?

I'm trying to line up a round at The Bluffs...just need one more course to finish off our green needs!

Just got back from an awesome 5 days in Baton Rouge(awesome except for my bowling)!

In case anyone else wants to play golf...let me tell you that both Copper Mill(20 mins north of Baton Rouge) and The Island Golf Club(20 min southwest of BR) were both great tracks! Even with a mixed & match set of rental clubs, I managed to post a 78 at The Island course.

Get away from the lanes, step away from the craps table and get outside for some fun in the sun---the golfing's very nice in the Cajun state.
