It is an extra hassle. Do they think I'm going to gamble any winnings away at Binions? I'll lose them somewhere else just out of principle...

They would definitely frown upon such a thing, but if they didn't know whats the harm, thing would be getting all the scores, and of course collecting the money.
I have no problem with Binnion's, it's just another casino as far as I am concerned. I have had some success playing in their poker room and their sports book.

This is from the rule book for Nationals:
I'm assuming PC's would be included as "etc..."

11. ETIQUETTE
No electronic equipment of any kind is allowed during competition. This includes but is not limited to cell phones, pagers, video recorders, cameras, radios, palm pilots, IPods, etc.

You mean if your significant other (wife, spouse, girlfriend) cant take a picture of the team before bowling or cant video you coming out to the lanes just for fun to show others back home?  You cant personally promote the sport and good time because the rules state no cameras etc?

The only drawback to collecting at Binion's is that you will end up reinvesting in a Texas Hold'em tournament while your there.

You, the bowler, cannot use electronic equipment, cameras, video camera, ipods, etc.  They want you ready to bowl when it's your turn, not playing with electronics, so the squads run on time.

The only rule governing spectators is no flash photography, they can still use cameras, just no flash.

OK...just got back from bowling in Vegas.
The setup at Cashman Center is pretty good.
Having to go to Binions ***for our group*** was a pain in the rear.
Walking was out of the question. We had a few seniors in our group, as well as several ladies.

We stayed at South Point, so Binions was about as far away as it could get from our hotel. We took a party limo to and from each time. As a group, it was cheaper than getting cabs. In fact, the one guy in our group that stayed in the center of the strip payed $20 for each trip to Cashman. Getting around Vegas is not cheap unless you take The Deuce (double decker bus that runs the strip).

My wife and I spent three hours on that friggin bus Saturday night just so we could go pick up bracket winnings. Riding the bus on Saturday night is horrible due to traffic. It just takes FOREVER! That said, next time we bowl in Vegas, we will stay in the old downtown. I actually preferred the atmosphere on Freemont St as opposed to the overdone-hyped-up-resort-style new strip.

This was both my first time to Vegas, and my first time bowling the USBC Nationals. I knew what I was getting into as far as lane conditions are concerned. I won some on Friday with a 590, then lost some on Saturday with a 560 and 500. Maybe the 7:00AM start time on Saturday morning had something to do with it

"7:00am start time"
Ouch! I'm generally just going to bed at that time when in Vegas.

Downtown is really a pretty good place to stay. We stayed at the Freemont. The rooms, although not large were recently remodeled and very clean. If I had it to do over I would stay at the Golden Nugget. The scantilly clad babes manning the Black Jack tables in the area by the sports book are very nice to look at. The bar (Gold Diggers) up above the casino with the balcony over the street is fun. The Freemont being in the middle of the Freemont Experience made it easy to walk to any other casino and Binions is right across the street from the Freemont, Golden Nugget and Four Queens.
