Has anyone heard anything on what the pattern going be? Anything like last years, or Reno, the year before? Thanks

They'll post it about a week before the start of the tournament. They tweak the pattern with local bowlers being the guinea pigs once the lanes are completed until they're satisfied with the pattern.

We bowl opening weekend and we haven't seen the pattern more than one day before we go to the site. I would imagine it will be similar, the pattern has stayed very similar overall the past 3 years. Multiple angles of attack and some quality shotmaking required.

Russell said it best. you will not see the pattern on the website until probably a day or 2 before the opening squad. Remember, this year they have the masters the week before opening ceremonies so that will give them less time to monkey with the shot.

I am one of the pattern testers for two different sessions, just got the offer last night. I bowl this next week for the first session, free practice on the real shot sounds good to me lol

Tournament opens Feb 21 (Saturday). So don't expect to see the pattern posted before Tues/Wed of that week

Congratulations on getting this offer. Just a reminder you will not be on the final pattern. You will be on the test patterns. I was talking with a couple of people who did this last year and the pattern they tested was not the same as the one used when they bowled. It was not far diffrent but definatly not the same. Just a gentle reminder to you so that when you bowl the event you are not expecting the exact same pattern. Once they set the pattern no one bowls on it until the event starts.

No biggy we are running our own sweeper on it also, maybe session two will be closer to the pattern used.
I dont care that much I dont even have a team yet, wife just got a job yesterday after 13 months off on unemployment.
So first i need to save the money up and pay for a spot, had at least 150 offers from the board already.

yeah like mrbowlingnut, I will be out there Wednesday morning practicing. It should be interesting.

If you practice on any Sport pattern and get good on it you will be prepared for Nationals.

Bowled on a version of next week's Master shot this morning, if you tried to swing it far wash out city. If you missed right your ball will sail into the 3-6 pins but after playing it all wrong game 1 it was actually an easy shot.
I used a polished Pin Slasher 5 5/8 pin to pap my favorite ball anyway on anything right now, tossed it up the back right on the oil line which is at board 9 today at least. If you missed left the ball would take off, so hard and firm the ball read every time and would either strike or leave a solid 10 pin.
I also watched Game Breaker and Playmaker killing on the same shot, balls I tried that were too strong where the Sauce, Power Swing and Perfect Rival. The swing players were all over the place with balls coming in high flush one shot and another shot never wrinkling at all.

Always remember that machine volumes and surface friction can't be duplicated at your place of practice. You can get an idea but never the same reaction.

I agree with mrbowlingnut. If you got it outside of ten at the arrows the ball would either washout or have nothing left when it hit the pocket. I was playing 15 at the arrows out to 7 and was able to snap the ball into the pocket. I was using a T-Road Pearl with the pin over the ring finger with the cg in the palm just a hair right of the pin. I'm thinking of going with the Hy-Road with a more rollier drilling. All in all not a bad shot if you are consistent. My only complaint was all the saw dust on the lanes and approaches.

There were over 250 bowlers this morning at Cashman Field. Any local could
sign up and bowl. There is a Senior appreciation day tomorrow and they are
expecting at least as many people then. We moved pairs after each game and
there were at least 3 different patterns put out for testing. It went from
very dry to medium wet. No clue as to what the final pattern(s) will be.

I never caught one of those dry pairs Nextbowler says he bowled on, all were identical and breaking down normally.
In a few weeks there is another session which willbe closer to the real shot but never exact, I know it can be 100 percent different next round.
The saw dust is nuts sticking left and right was normal today even brushing off the dust every shot, it was fun and free so who cares anyway.

I didn't run across any dry pairs either. They were all pretty consistent. The only pair I had to move in was the last pair for game 5 and that was because of the breakdown from the other games.
